  • We're honoured that some of our public resources have been featured and linked to in this pivotal publication... In the race against climate change, the advertising industry stands at a critical crossroads. The IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising)'s groundbreaking report, 'Agents of change: The expert view', lays bare the challenges and opportunities our sector faces in embracing sustainability. Our 'Ultimate Guide to Impact Reporting', 'Impact Reporting Checklist', and 'Regenerative Business Mind Map' have been recognised as valuable tools in this industry-wide transformation. This acknowledgment from the IPA – the UK's advertising, media, and marketing communications industry's professional institute – is a testament to our commitment to sustainable business practices. But more importantly, it's a reflection of one of our core values: ‘Generosity’. We believe in sharing knowledge freely to accelerate positive change across our industry. The 'Agents of change' report reveals that 70% of agencies either haven’t started or are just beginning their sustainability journey, citing lack of skills, knowledge, and resources as major hurdles. This underscores the importance of collaborative learning and open sharing of expertise. As a B Corp certified sustainable marketing agency, we're proud to contribute to this crucial dialogue. But we're even more excited about the potential for collective action that this report represents. We encourage everyone in our network to read the full 'Agents of change' report on the IPA website. Let's use this wealth of expert insights to drive meaningful change in our industry and beyond. Here's the link to the report: https://lnkd.in/gKKMW6CV Together, we can transform challenges into opportunities and become true agents of change in the fight for a sustainable future. 🌍 ✊ Follow us: Avery & Brown | B Corp™ Thanks as always to our brilliant Advisory Board – Rick Benfield, Michelle Carvill, Aaron Hutchinson, Deborah Kingsley – our wonderful clients, and our amazing network of friends, collaborators, and supporters.

I was absolutely delighted to be involved in researching and writing this epic report and accompanying toolkit for the IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising) along with the irrepressible Hilary Berg.  📢 The report is a wake up call for the advertising industry detailing why agencies can no longer ignore sustainability. ✅ The toolkit provides practical advice and best practice for agencies that want to move beyond a 'passive' attitude to sustainability and towards a 'pioneering' approach that will ensure they stay relevant and future fit. 📲 The toolkit is digital first so we welcome feedback and hope to continually improve and evolve it over time. 🙌 Thank you to all the contributors - too many to mention all here, but including Jake Dubbins Jonathan Wise Matt Bourn Michelle Carvill Elle Chartres Mark Curtis Jake Dubbins Suzy Giles MCIPR Jon Howard Felicity McLean Pamela Noakes 🙏 Tom Firth Joyce Kelso Gabriella Young - thank you for trusting us with this important piece of work.

This morning we are launching a new environmental sustainability report and accompanying toolkit, authored by Hilary Berg and Rick Benfield, identifying the barriers faced by the industry and providing tools and guidance to support agencies in their transformation planning. The toolkit, Agents of Change: The Plan, provides agencies with a detailed and practical four-step model for action and is designed to give leaders the knowledge and support to formulate a sustainability plan that sits in tandem with their agency business plan. The toolkit is informed by the findings of an accompanying report, Agents of Change: The Expert View, which summarises the experiences of agency leaders and sustainability specialists, clients, coalitions working for change within the industry, external activists and other related membership bodies. To address these barriers, and to set agencies up for future success, they identify key resources and the core steps of activity that form the basis of the four-step model. 1) Set your ambition: Identify and be honest about where you want to take your business, in order to provide yourselves with a north star when setting targets and taking action. 2) Build the foundations for change: Including understanding context and risk, establishing a business case, leading the agenda and engaging colleagues. 3) Take action: In the work you do, which involves making clear choices on clients, campaigns and in normalizing behaviours; and in the way you work to improve efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of operations, production and delivery. 4) Grow the movement: How agencies can help to grow a movement for change, through inspiration and collaboration. Commenting on the launch, Chair of the IPA Sustainability Action Group Tom Firth said: "It is a time of both risk and enormous opportunity for the industry. This project is our first vital step in providing practical support to other IPA members to help them make sense of the agenda and begin to think strategically about the transformation required, and the practical steps needed to change." 🎈 Party time! 🎈 We had a blast last night celebrating our 4th birthday party. Though we also managed to forget to cancel our People Planet Pint we scheduled for the same night, so we just ran both at the same time. 😂 Huge thanks to everyone who turned up to celebrate with us and also attend the PPP. You made it a fantastic evening. We’re still recovering from last night’s shenanigans, but we’ve got some prep to do for a busy September! Here’s what’s on the list:
Tim & Russ are preparing for a HUGE proposal presentation. This could be a very exciting project for us, but we need to keep it shtum for now. 🤫 The B Corp Festival by B Lab UK is on in Oxford next week. Russ will be speaking on the ‘Telling Your Sustainability Story with Influence and Integrity’ panel. We’re back from (what was supposed to be) our August PPP break, with a People, Planet, Pastry happening on the 19th and a People, Planet, Pint on the 26th. Every now and again, one of the A&B team hosts a ‘lunch and learn’ to share something new with the rest of the team. Tilly’s hosting the next one very soon and it’s all about ‘democratising design’. 👀 #4thBirthday #PartyTime #PPP

Results are in! Indiana has confirmed to be the first stork to leave the nest making the incredible journey across the Channel, confirmed by her satellite tag. Reports mentioned a group of storks circling near Dover, suggesting that others may have joined her or are heading off soon. If you missed our previous post, Indiana is our very own sponsored white stork chick at Knepp Wildland Foundation. She hatched in a ground nest as her parents are part of the non-flying (rehabilitated) cohort. We are immensely proud to contribute to such crucial conservation efforts. A huge thank you to the White Stork Project for all the reports and the work that helps us better understand and protect these wonderful birds. Stay tuned for more updates on Indiana's journey. #WhiteStorkProject #rewilding #Conservation

This week is sponsored by the number 4! Why? Well, two big reasons. Number 1 is that 4 weeks ago my wife and I welcomed little Henry onto the scene. He crash-landed in mid-July, and is doing well and growing like a champ. The team bought him an A&B branded vest (it's his favourite), so it would only be right that he came to the office in his uniform ready to join the team. And secondly, Avery & Brown | B Corp™ turned 4 this week. And what a four years it has been. Ups and downs and lots of lefts and rights. But I am super proud of the work we do, the clients we support and the team we are building. Here is to the next 4 years! #Birthday #Celebrations #MarketingAgency #Farnham
