For many of us, buying a second-hand car is second nature. But when it comes to electric vehicles (EVs), how can you be sure of what you’re buying? Our new research, conducted with Stack Data Strategy, reveals a significant gap in public awareness around the used EV market. Nearly two-thirds (64%) of respondents said that there isn’t enough public information available on how to buy a used electric vehicle. A simple yet effective solution for the Government would be to implement standardised battery health certificates. This would not only make EV’s more accessible for all but also help in achieving the UK’s EV targets. This solution not only benefits consumers but would help the insurance industry too. Being able to accurately determine fair market value can have a positive impact on insurance premiums.
