Here, she explains what she loves about each day … “I’ve always had an empathic nature, and when a customer calls in distress, I find it rewarding to help them and ease their anxiety. For customers who are not as distressed, I feel good in knowing that they have confidence in us to do the right thing. As part of building a high-performance culture, we’re committed to supporting our Technical Graduates and giving them the skills and experiences they need to grow. That’s why our Motor Fulfilment Area Manager, Margo Lamkin, arranged for one of our Technical Graduates to spend a day in the life of an External Engineer. Maddie is currently studying for her ATA VDA Accreditation with DLG Auto Services in Middlewich. To see what the job involves, Maddie spent the day on the road with Shaun and discovered how our engineers manage our repair costs, support with identifying Fraud, and, most importantly, make sure that our customers receive the right outcome with a brilliant experience. Our DLG Auto Services Centre in Crawley has completed the transition from gas to electric spray booths. This greener alternative will help us to achieve our agreed Science Based Target - to reduce emissions by 46% across our offices and accident repair centres by 2030 against a 2019 baseline. The switch to electric booths will cut DLG’s emissions by 1.5% overall The new setup will save 122 tonnes of CO2e every year This is just one step in our goal to reduce emissions by 46% by 2030 The team also introduced a heat recovery system to all three electric booths. This reclaims some of the heat from the exhausted air and uses it to preheat the incoming air, generating an expected 50% saving on energy consumption along with significant running costs savings. Bhavnita Patel, DLG’s Sustainability Project Lead, added, “It was a complex project, but the teamwork and commitment made it happen. On average, five dogs are stolen every day in the UK. While the figures may sound alarming, Direct Line Pet Insurance's analysis of police data reveals a 21% decrease in the number of dogs stolen compared to 2023. The decrease could be explained by the introduction of the Pet Abduction Act, which came into force in May last year, making pet theft a criminal offence in England and Wales. Adam Burgin, Head of Direct Line Pet Insurance, commented: “As a nation of pet lovers, we hope to continue the downward trend in the number of stolen dogs. Our research over the last decade has shown dog theft is a persistent issue, and hopefully, the Pet Abduction Act 2024 will encourage a change in criminal behaviour in the long-term.” Worried about pet theft?
