Nearly 100 employees at Balfour Beatty VINCI, a valued partner on the HS2 project, joined three impactful awareness talks led by our founder, Steve Whittle. These sessions are part of an ongoing campaign to support men, organised by Tracy Ellen Knapp Tech IOSH. Celeste Harper hosts yesterday’s sessions at their Kenilworth (A46) site. Together, we tackled urgent issues: - the male suicide crisis; - the gender mental health gap; - and the critical role workplaces play in fostering better support systems for men. We shared actionable strategies to create a workplace where masculinity is a strength, vulnerability is recognised as courage, and open, honest dialogue thrives. Revealed👀 our latest green bridge near Kenilworth. Stoneleigh Road bridge will consist of a dual carriageway for vehicles and provide two nature corridors, giving safe passage for wildlife to cross the railway. Piling work on the bridge, which is 33 metres in length and 42 metres wide, started in October 2023, with a delivery team of 50 people supporting the build at peak construction. The team has recently been making the finishing touches to the bridge, including the installation of 32 parapets, following a huge pour of 1,900 cubic metres of concrete to create a deck slab in late 2024. It was great to visit the site, which will be the HS2 interchange in Coleshill. This will be a new era in the world of transportation and will make the NEC alongside Birmingham Airport more accessible. We successfully installed 120 giant concrete beams for a 14,500-tonne box structure designed to take the HS2 line under the A46 Kenilworth Bypass in Warwickshire 👏.   The beams, ranging between 13 and 24 metres in length, were carefully lifted into place using three giant cranes to form an integral part of the structure’s top. A dedicated team of engineers worked round the clock to complete the entire operation ahead of schedule in just 14 days.     Due for completion later this year, the huge box is currently being built on land next to a section of the A46 rather than on the carriageway – avoiding the need for up to two years of traffic management measures and minimising disruption for road users.     Find out more: https://gloo.to/FEmU #Warwickshire #HS2 #Construction Balfour Beatty VINCI

🚧 MPB Structures is very proud to be delivering the final stage of the HS2 Bromford Tunnel West Portal construction, working 27 metres below ground in the portal sump. 🚧 🚄 The portal at Washwood Heath Birmingham marks where trains will emerge from the 3.5-mile Bromford Tunnel and travel below ground before raising onto a series of viaducts leading into Birmingham’s Curzon Street Station. As the deepest of four tunnel portals on the Midlands section of HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd, this 750m cut-and-cover structure is a landmark in UK rail infrastructure. Since starting in March 2023, we’ve: 🏗️ Installed over 5000 tonnes of reinforcement 👷 Poured an astonishing 28,000 m³ of concrete And we’re not done yet! Next, we’ll take on the intricate internal shaft structures, continuing to set new standards for precision and innovation in construction. In collaboration with Balfour Beatty VINCI, this transformative project exemplifies cutting-edge engineering and construction expertise, paving the way for the future of UK rail. The River Cole Viaducts take shape in the Delta Junction 🎥👇     The operation, delivered by our civil contractor Balfour Beatty VINCI, included lifting eight separate sections, weighing between 76 and 273 tonnes onto six concrete piers and four abutments to form two 159-metre-long spans over the River Cole.     The pre-built sections were moved to the lifting position on the site using giant self-propelled modular transporters, which were then lifted into place by a Liebherr LR 1600-2 crawler crane. This highly specialised piece of lifting equipment has a maximum capacity of 600 tonnes and an operating height of up to 50 metres.     This section of the HS2 route between London and the West Midlands is known as the Delta Junction.
