Bellway partners with Regeneration Brainery to offer opportunities in housebuilding to young people. 👏 Regeneration Brainery is an award-winning aspirational academy for brilliant young minds. Set up in 2017, the not-for-profit has worked with over 6,000 young people to date and aids social mobility among young people by introducing them to the workplace and helping address the skills shortages within the sector. As part of the partnership, we will be hosting a workshop at our Head Office in Newcastle upon Tyne – the first time Regeneration Brainery will have delivered workshops within the North East. ➡️ In addition, work placements will allow participants to experience working in the business and allow us to highlight the career opportunities through our Apprenticeship and Graduate programmes. Currently, over seven percent of our employees are in ‘earn and learn’ roles, and this programme will allow us to increase that number. 🗣 Heidi Khoshtaghaza, Group HR Director at Bellway, said: “Bellway is delighted to partner with Regeneration Brainery to offer work experience opportunities to young people who are interested in a career in construction. As an Employer of Choice, we realise the importance of encouraging young people into the housebuilding sector, and through this partnership, we are able to showcase the variety of roles within our business to a diverse audience, who otherwise might not realise the career opportunities available.” Michele Steel, CEO of Regeneration Brainery, said: “Our new partnership with Bellway comes as Regeneration Brainery’s programme expands across the UK, and we work with more young people to open up access to opportunity through careers in property and the built environment. As a five-star housebuilder with a massive focus on finding and nurturing new talent, they’re the perfect partner to join us in our mission of a more diverse industry with more opportunity for social mobility.” ℹ️ Find out more: https://lnkd.in/ecG8DEDE

Today we have published our interim results for the period ended 31st January 2025. Bellway has delivered a strong first half performance, and it’s thanks to the hard work of our employees, combined with an improving trading backdrop, that we are in an excellent position to continue to grow. 🏡 We delivered 4,577 high-quality homes during the first half, which was 12% higher than the prior year period. This was supported by a strengthened order book at the start of the financial year. There was a notable increase in reservation rates in January and this has continued into the current spring selling season with a healthy a pick-up in customer enquiries and reservation rates. 📈 Bellway has a high-quality land bank which comprises over 95,000 plots and we operated from an average of 248 outlets across the country in the first half. During the period, we opened 17 new outlets and have over 30 planned for the second half of the financial year 2025. Our strong balance sheet and land bank support our ongoing outlet openings and longer-term growth ambitions. 🌲 We made good progress with our plans for ‘Bellway Home Space’ our new timber frame production facility. We have agreed a long-term lease for a 134,000 sq ft industrial unit in Nottinghamshire and fit-out has commenced. We expect to begin supplying our divisions with frames from the facility in early 2026. 🏆 We are delighted that the efforts of our colleagues have been recognised, with Bellway employees achieving a record 45 NHBC ‘pride in the job’ awards including 10 ‘seals of excellence’ and three ‘regional’ awards. We are also proud to have won the ‘Best Staff Development Award’ at the 2024 Housebuilder Awards. ⭐ Bellway has retained its position as a five-star homebuilder, reflecting our focus on delivering consistently high service and quality homes for all our customers. We are encouraged by the improving market conditions and the government’s longer-term approach to increasing the supply of new housing. This supportive backdrop, coupled with our operational strengths and land bank depth, provides an excellent platform for Bellway to deliver multi-year growth and the high-quality new homes the country needs. Petra Letang‑Laudat is carving out a new career in construction thanks to Bellway and the Women into Home Building programme. 👏 The former actor – who enjoyed a successful career spanning more than 20 years across TV, stage and radio, is now working as a trainee assistant site manager for Bellway London. Grief at the loss of her mum in 2018 led Petra to reflect on her life, while the renovation of the family home and a rental flat she inherited from her mum sparked her creative interest in design and construction. 💭 It was this interest that led her to sign up in 2023 for a six-week employability programme run by Women into Construction and the Home Builders Federation. After spending almost a year job-hunting for a role which would fit around her life as a busy mum, she was then offered a two-week placement by Bellway through the Women into Home Building programme and in August 2024 started a two-year apprenticeship with the company. Petra said: “I used to say I couldn’t see myself doing anything else other than acting. I don’t enjoy sitting behind a desk – I need something creative. I absolutely did not imagine in my wildest dreams that this was what I would end up doing, but in the process of renovating our home there was this kind of buzz that sparked my interest" She said: “It wasn’t easy and I’ve had to be determined. As much as it’s an industry where you can grow and flourish, you have to really want it to succeed.” The possibility of a job with Bellway came at a point where Petra had been shortlisted for a construction role elsewhere, which had gone to an internal candidate. She posted on LinkedIn that she was never going to give up – and received a message from Bellway’s Group HR Director Heidi Khoshtaghaza who reached out to say there might be an opportunity with Bellway. 🤝 Fast forward to June last year, and Petra completed a two-week paid placement with Bellway London, which was followed by the offer of an apprenticeship. This includes one day a week of online study with the NHBC towards an NVQ Level 4 in Site Management Supervision. It is a world away from a life on stage or on TV, but this is something that Petra is appreciating. 🎥 “I didn’t think I would enjoy the study days as much as I have and once I’ve become an assistant site manager, I’d be interested in getting my Level 6 at some point to get my Site Manager qualification and work my way up. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.” Bellway is one of several housebuilders which is participating in the Women into Home Building programme, which is led by the Home Builders Federation to attract more women into site management roles. 🛎 Applications are open for the spring placements taking place in May until Sunday 23rd March. Matthew Griffiths awarded NHBC Apprentice of the Year! 👏 We are delighted to share that Matthew Griffiths, assistant site manager at Wessex, has been named NHBC Construction Site Supervisor Apprentice of the Year. Matthew received this prestigious award at the NHBC's annual graduation ceremony, held at its headquarters in Milton Keynes on Friday 7 March. 🏆 He commented: “After serving in the RAF for ten years, I was ready for a new challenge and a more settled family life. I wanted a hands-on career where I could stay active, so I initially explored carpentry but soon realised my skills were better suited to site management. “The NHBC apprenticeship has been a learning curve and the support and training have been incredible. It’s given me the confidence and qualifications to progress and I’ve recently stepped into an assistant site manager role. “For anyone thinking they’re too old to change careers, don’t hesitate. I’ll be working until I’m 70, so why not spend those years doing something rewarding." 🙌 Mark Alp, Managing Director at Wessex, said: "Matt’s journey is a remarkable tale of perseverance, growth, and determination. He started his career with a deep sense of duty, enlisting in the armed forces straight after school. His time in the military taught him invaluable life skills, such as leadership, discipline, and resilience. After leaving the armed forces, Matt transitioned into civilian life with the same mindset of determination." Matthew’s transition from the RAF to site management is a testament to the opportunities available in the construction industry. His story highlights how apprenticeships can provide the skills, qualifications and support needed to succeed, no matter your background. Congratulations, Matthew!🎉 ➡️ Find out more about our apprenticeship opportunities here: https://lnkd.in/dwVE8R9w
