Achieving gender balance in senior positions requires more than good intentions – it takes action. 💜 Ahead of International Women’s Day tomorrow, we're proud to spotlight our Global Women's Development Programme (GWDP), launched in 2016 to empower women on their leadership journey. Miriam Ballhausen, Karolina Stawicka, and Loren Leung are among the many success stories from the programme here at Bird & Bird. Swipe through to discover their stories and read our article for full insights into their experiences and the programme: https://2bird.ly/3QMOLuu As we celebrate this weekend, we’re reminded that progress doesn’t happen on its own - it takes urgency, momentum, and a commitment to accelerate action towards true gender equality. Happy International Women’s Day! #IWD #IWD2025 #InternationalWomensDay #AccelerateAction

In collaboration with the Holocaust Educational Trust and our Jewish Network, we were recently privileged to welcome Holocaust survivor Mala Tribich to our London office. Mala’s remarkable and harrowing story was streamed across our international offices, as well as many colleagues joining in person. This year marks 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. It's more important – and rarer – than ever to hear the first-hand testimonies of survivors, whose stories remind us that these events happened within living memory. Mala’s experience demonstrates the profound importance of standing up against antisemitism, racism and hatred of all kinds - her testimony had a powerful effect on all who heard it, and her courage in sharing it is an inspiration to us all. Thank you to everyone who attended, and if you are interested in hearing Mala’s story, you can view her testimony in full online here: https://lnkd.in/e6qv6BeF

How will the new EU cybersecurity framework impact your organisation? Last week we hosted an insightful webinar dedicated to the NIS2 Directive and the extensive obligations it imposes on entities within its scope. Our expert speakers, Benoit Van Asbroeck, Dr. Natallia Karniyevich, Adam Simon, and Lisa Gius, examined the key obligations under the new framework. They highlighted current registration requirements, provided examples of local deviations under both the Belgian and Hungarian implementations and provided practical insights into managing cross-border NIS2 compliance projects. The session concluded with key practical takeaways to help organisations navigate the new framework effectively. Are dark patterns affecting Australian consumers in your online business? Dark patterns are manipulative design tactics used by businesses to distort consumer decisions, such as hidden fees, misleading urgency cues, and subscription traps. With the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) increasing scrutiny, businesses need to prepare for potential changes in the law. Our experts Nicholas Boyle, Rich Hawkins, Jasper O'Donnell, and Julian Ferguson shed light on the growing issue of dark patterns in e-commerce and their potential legal implications under Australian Consumer Law.
