Following today's budget, businesses in the Black Country will welcome Chancellor Rt Hon Rachel Reeves' commitment to restoring economic stability and increasing investment however businesses will be impacted by the drop in the threshold at which they start paying employers’ National Insurance from £9,100 to £5,000. Black Country Chamber CEO, Sarah Moorhouse said: "Our economic surveys conducted over the last 12 months have shown Black Country businesses had higher confidence than national Chamber of Commerce survey results, so we are backing our region’s resilient firms of all sizes to make the most of the positive opportunities out there. “We hope that now they can analyse the detail of the Budget after weeks of speculation, they will be encouraged to move forward knowing more of the impact." 🚨 Businesses will be worried about this. Raising employer NICs, in an already stretched economy, will simply hobble growth and leave firms with less money to invest in their staff. Our research shows that taxation is the top concern for business. Any tax rises must be countered by steps to incentivise investment that smaller firms can access with minimal red tape. This could include a workable R&D Tax Credit scheme and retaining the current level of the Annual Investment Allowance. 👇 https://lnkd.in/eDGRrhxp
