💔“It was really hard not having my husband there when Arlo needed us both. The days next to the incubator were so lonely.” 💙When Stef gave birth more than three months early, she needed her husband by her side. With no paid time off, he had no choice but to work six days a week. ⭐#NeonatalCareLeaveandPay will mean parents with a sick baby in hospital can be cot side from day one. 📘Read her story here: https://lnkd.in/ejx8n_jy ℹ️And find out more about this new employment right on our website: https://lnkd.in/eKy8bhAJ
About us
Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. We rely on donations to fund our work but with one baby admitted to neonatal care every five minutes we don’t have the resources to reach every baby. We need help to support the already stretched NHS to drive improvements in neonatal care, to ensure that the needs of babies are at the heart of policy and planning for the future, and to provide information and support to 100,000 families with a baby in neonatal care each year. Tomorrow, more than 300 babies will be admitted to neonatal care. Help ensure they get the best care by visiting bliss.org.uk/support-bliss

🚨Our latest findings highlight a significant gap in neonatal care: On average, there is a 67% shortfall between the recommended staffing levels and the actual staffing levels of essential Neonatal Allied Health Professionals — including dietitians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists — as well as pharmacy and psychological professionals across the UK. ⭐Yet, we know just how vital their roles are. Our research shows that 9 in 10 parents reported that the care and support of these professionals had a positive or very positive impact on their neonatal journey. These findings highlight the challenges and the transformative power of these professionals for babies and their families. 📖 Explore the full research and our policy recommendations to bridge this gap 👇🏽 https://lnkd.in/ek8GSRxZ
