About us
BOSWORTH ACADEMY is an 11-19 age range secondary school located in the village of Desford in west Leicestershire, England and is a member of the LIFE Multi Academy Trust. Our students strive 'To Learn To Achieve' by committing everyday to the values of the 6 Cs of Character, Collaboration, Creativity, Citizenship, Communication and Critical Thinking. The campus has a full range of facilities including the newly opened 3G pitch, the indoor Sports Dome, indoor swimming pool, The Compass library, drama studio, music studios, science laboratories, Design workshop and ICT Suites, along with purpose-built Maths and MFL blocks. All curriculum areas have specialist teaching spaces which are used to enhance learning. The school opened in 1969 as Bosworth Community College, replacing the former Grammar School located in Market Bosworth. In 2003, the College was designated as a Specialist Sports College and became an Academy on April 1st 2012. Since its beginning, Bosworth Academy has been a mixed comprehensive upper school catering for the 14-19 age range. In September 2014, the Academy began the transition to becoming an 11-19 school where we are proud to see the students develop from the Laureates in Key Stage Three, Years 10 and 11 in Key Stage Four, through to the Oaks Sixth Form and beyond.

Helping frustrated leaders escape drudgery | Career and Life Strategy | Author | Wannabe Rock Star | Mountain Biker
Yesterday BOSWORTH ACADEMY held it's annual 'Lion's Den' Enterprise Day, and I was back again with a team of other business people to coach, advise, and judge the teams of year 12s (16-17 year olds) in their creation of a new app business. Each year I'm astounded by the creativity, ideas, technical design capability, and sheer bloody pluckiness of our young people - especially when presenting. Unrestrained by 'life' but pushed by their existing life experience, they came up with a social enterprise reliant on infrastructure partnerships and charity finding, environmentally conscious fashion apps, one that tells you where the nearest loo is, wherever you are, and notably a slang translator for old gits like me who still say cool and awesome, and not lit, shade, and slay. So, if you're one of those other old gits who moan about the "youth of today - they have no idea" well I can assure you they do have ideas. They just need you and your worldly experience to help them shape, deliver, and monetise those ideas, as they're gonna be the ones paying for our state pensions, healthcare, and other public services when we're REALLY old and crusty. So if you can, lend a hand. Your local schools might just value your expertise and experience. just contact their careers person and find out how you can support. Today Year 12s took part in our Enterprise Day BOSWORTH ACADEMY. It was great to see so many innovative and talented students. I wish I had taken more pictures but I was in awe of every idea! The photo attached may get you thinking about what this idea was 😅 The students learnt how to pitch their ideas to employers, split into teams and work collaboratively and lots more skills. Thank you Phil Sterne, @alex taylor, @mary freer and Sam from Nest for being our judges and sharing your experience and knowledge.
