Talent is everywhere, opportunity is not. We’re changing that by powering students into top unis and careers. 💙🚀

About us

At Zero Gravity, we’re here to break the link between background and opportunity. Our mission? To unlock potential by empowering ambitious students from low-opportunity areas to secure the universities and careers they deserve. Since 2019, we’ve built the UK’s leading tech platform for social mobility. Zero Gravity is packed with features designed to take talent to the top - from mentoring, masterclasses, scholarships, to exclusive internship and job opportunities. Here’s the impact so far: 🎓 We’ve supported 8,000+ students to secure spots at top universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, and the Russell Group. 💰 We’ve deployed £1.8 million in scholarships to low-income students, ensuring finances don’t stand in the way of ambition. 🕺 Through partnerships with leading employers (think HSBC, KPMG, Morgan Stanley, and Jaguar Land Rover) we’re propelling students into elite careers, building pathways to lasting success. We don’t want to sound too grand; but we believe that Zero Gravity isn’t just a platform - it’s a movement. We’re reimagining a world where no student’s future is limited by their postcode, school, or bank balance. Want to learn more about how Zero Gravity can unlock your potential? Founder & CEO of Zero Gravity | Talent is everywhere, opportunity is not - we’re changing that 🚀 Forbes 30 Under 30 | Sunday Times Young Power List | Tech Entrepreneur of the Year | King’s Birthday Honours

Buzzing to share that Zero Gravity has just been ranked as the 30th Best Company To Work For in the UK by Great Place To Work UK! 🚀 But let’s be real—most company culture awards are a load of nonsense. Glossy applications, black-tie dinners, and shiny trophies that say more about PR budgets than actual workplace culture. But this one’s different. Great Place To Work UK analysed anonymous survey feedback from 285,000 employees across the country—measuring trust, innovation, values, and leadership. No gimmicks, no fluff—just the honest experiences of the people who live and breathe their company’s culture every day. At Zero Gravity, culture isn’t just important—it’s existential. Startups are destined to fail rather than succeed. And they don’t usually fail due to bad strategy. They fail because they don’t have the right team and culture to defy the odds. That’s why Zero Gravity’s values are more than slogans on a wall. Stand Up Straight, Run Towards Danger, Change It Up, Make It Happen. These aren’t hollow phrases—they’re how we move, think, and build on a daily basis. Ultimately, we’re creating a culture where ambitious people from all backgrounds can do the best work of their lives and go further than they ever imagined. And, in my opinion, that’s what working for a startup is all about! 📋 Check out the full list here: https://lnkd.in/euShJd3A

  • Picture this: Two graduates, same degree, same grades. One lands a top job. The other doesn’t. What’s the difference? Their background. Last week, Zero Gravity brought together universities and employers at Perkins Coie London for a roundtable discussion on a game-changing new study from Dr Claire Tyler (UCL). Claire’s data-led research across 2 million applicants finds that working-class and ethnic minority graduates are applying for top jobs – but they’re not getting hired at the same rate as their more privileged peers:  📌 They’re 31% less likely to receive job offers.  📌 Even when equally qualified, they’re still 18% less likely to succeed.  📌 Applying later in the cycle explains 11% of the gap. So, what’s stopping them? And more importantly, what can we do about it? At the roundtable, we focused on solutions: 💼 Employers: Start tracking socio-economic data, look beyond Russell Group unis, and recruit based on potential – not just polish. 🏫 Universities: Give students the confidence and tools to apply early and navigate assessments. 🚀 Students: Be inquisitive! Apply as soon as applications open, highlight your part-time work as real experience, and seek out mentors – because people want to support you. This isn’t just another report. It’s a wake-up call. Talent is everywhere, but opportunity still isn’t. At Zero Gravity, we’re on a mission to change that. #SocialMobility #Careers #ZeroGravity

  • 🚀 National Careers Week is here – and if you’re at the start of your career, making those big decisions can feel like stepping into the unknown! But here’s the thing: there’s no single ‘right’ way to succeed. We sat down with Deloitte Partner, Ben Newton, who carved out an incredible career from a non-traditional entry point. His advice? Forget the pressure of picking the “perfect” path – instead, focus on what works for you. 💡 Here are five insights from his journey: 🔹 Embrace uncertainty – your career doesn’t need to follow a set blueprint. 🔹 Don’t fear the ‘what ifs’ – whatever path you take, you’ll gain something valuable. 🔹 Find your competitive advantage – use your unique route as a strength. 🔹 Ask questions – nobody has all the answers from day one. 🔹 Take time to reset – a career is a marathon, not a sprint. Wherever you’re headed – uni, an apprenticeship, into work – the key is owning your journey. 💬 Find the full conversation on our most recent blog post, and why not share the advice you wish you'd known at the start of your career too? #NationalCareersWeek #Careers #ZeroGravity #Leveltheplayingfield #Socialmobility

  • What if your grad job could level you up from uni student to competitive, professional leader in a matter of months? Teaching is the ultimate bootcamp for the skills you need to make it to the top of any workplace. From influencing a room, to presenting with power, and fostering meaningful relationships - the classroom prepares you for any room you enter next. For Alex O'Connor, that journey began with Teach First, where he didn’t just teach - he led from day one: “I graduated from Bristol and went straight into teaching, taking on leadership responsibilities from day one.” The Teach First Training Programme put him on the fast track to leadership, combining whole-school responsibilities with professional growth: “The Programme allowed me to develop my leadership skills through whole-school responsibilities, hone my teaching craft and gain experience in a professional setting that was unlike any other graduate job.” This experience opened doors globally. With leadership as a core strength, Alex secured a role at one of Asia’s top international schools: “Teach First equipped me with the credentials to move and teach abroad, successfully securing a teaching position at one of Asia’s leading international schools.” After two unforgettable years abroad, Alex returned to the UK and joined Zero Gravity: “I returned to the UK and joined Zero Gravity - an award-winning ed-tech startup that helps low-income talent break into top universities and careers. I’ve grown and developed in ways I never thought I could.” His secret to success? The transferable power of teaching: Teaching gave Alex the ability to lead, adapt, and thrive in fast-paced environments - qualities that set him apart in the startup world: “At every step of my professional journey, I’ve drawn on the wealth of experiences and skills that I gained through a career in teaching. I’ve become more empathetic, reflective, and resilient - qualities valued by employers, particularly in startups where you’re operating amidst high levels of ambiguity and no two days are the same.” Teach First prepares you to lead, in or out of the classroom. Teaching gave Alex: • Influence: Leading teams and inspiring action. • Agility: Thriving in fast-changing environments. • Momentum: Gaining leadership experience faster than most graduates. We’re looking for the most ambitious students from low-opportunity backgrounds to step into classrooms across the country and learn how to lead. The challenges are real - but so are the rewards. Are you up for the challenge? #TeachFirst #LeadershipLaunchpad #ZeroGravity #CareerMomentum #FutureLeaders #EdTechPioneers

  • “I was convinced everyone else, armed with their university degrees, possessed this innate intellectual prowess that I lacked.” That’s how Ben Newton, now a Partner at Deloitte, felt when he started as an apprentice. Sound familiar? Apprenticeships can feel like being thrown in at the deep end – surrounded by people who seem to have it all figured out. But here’s the truth: nobody expects you to know everything on day one. It’s about learning, making mistakes, and growing into the person who does know. We asked apprentices to share the lessons that shaped their journeys, and they delivered. 🔥 Forgetting to attach a file in an important client email? Lesson learned: double-check EVERYTHING. 🔩 Over-tightening a bolt until it snapped? That’s one way to learn about torque specs… 📞 Accidentally joined a virtual meeting while the team was upstairs? Nothing like a tech fail to brighten up people's weeks. Want to hear the full stories from apprentices at KPMG, Prodrive, Lloyds Banking Group, Lewis Silkin, Norton Rose Fulbright, and Deloitte? Read our latest blog below 👇 🚀 And if you’re ready to start your own apprenticeship journey, we’ve got opportunities waiting for you. Right now, there are live roles from Rolls-Royce, Accenture, Lloyds Banking Group, Morgan Stanley, KPMG, and Bolt Burdon Kemp. So, why not head to the Zero Gravity opportunities board, connect with a mentor who’s been in your shoes, and get the insider knowledge to see if an apprenticeship is the right path for you. #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #Apprenticeships #EarlyCareers #ZeroGravity
