Last week were were lucky enough to visit two major regeneration schemes in London. The teams at Barking Riverside Limited and Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC) were kind enough to show #TempleQuarter staff and members of the LLP Board around two of the biggest regeneration schemes in the capital. Both schemes will deliver thousands of new homes and jobs, and the infrastructure needed to support high-quality lives (the bins at Barking were a particular highlight!) The BTQ team came away feeling inspired by the scale of change these projects are creating. We'll continue to share lessons learned, new ideas and innovative ways of working with similar projects across the country to help us deliver the best results for Bristol and the West of England region. Transforming the heart of Bristol to unlock our city’s potential with sustainable new homes, jobs and opportunities.
About us
Bristol Temple Quarter is one of the UK's largest, most ambitious city-centre regeneration programmes. Our shared ambition is to deliver 10,000 homes and thousands of new jobs, alongside new opportunities, public space and sustainable infrastructure. The programme is managed in partnership between Bristol City Council, Homes England, Network Rail and the West of England Combined Authority. In March 2024, the partners formed the Bristol Temple Quarter Limited Liability Partnership to drive forward the comprehensive transformation of the area. Welcoming and inclusive, Bristol Temple Quarter is a place built on partnerships. Emphasising Bristol’s diversity, it fosters job creation, cultural celebration, and environmental revitalisation. Combining robust heritage with sustainable design, it sets a new standard for community-led development in the city's unique spirit.

We're excited to announce the search for an Independent Chair of the Bristol Temple Quarter Limited Liability Partnership (BTQ LLP) Board. The Chair of the Board will help to shape the transformation of #TempleQuarter, overseeing the newly formed LLP to ensure it is successfully fulfilling the city-region's ambitions. We hope to find an individual with a close appreciation of Bristol and the West of England who can provide strategic leadership at Temple Quarter and act as an ambassador for the project. This is an exciting moment for the BTQ programme as we continue to work with our partners Bristol City Council, Homes England, West of England Combined Authority, Network Rail, and University of Bristol to bring inclusive and sustainable growth, and thousands of homes and jobs, to the region. 🤩What a transformation! 🧑🤝🧑The Dings “Safe Ouse” has benefited from a major refurbishment thanks to generous financial contributions from Prior + Partners, our masterplanning consultants, as part of their social value commitments on the #TempleQuarter regeneration programme. 🖌️ Prior + Partners and the wider masterplanning team, including local architecture practice Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, Arup, and landscape architects Spacehub, and the BTQ team, also pitched in to to help paint the space. 🧠Shankari Raj (Shanks) from local architecture firm, Nudge, and member of the masterplanning consultant team, masterminded the work, including contacting Wren Kitchens for help. Wren didn’t hesitate, providing a brand-new purpose-built kitchen and wall-to-wall storage cabinets free of charge. 🚰For the first time, the community hub now has a kitchen sink. Until now, washing up was done in the bathroom sink! 🤝It's great to see what can happen with a collaborative approach to delivering social value. Great to be featured as part of the West of England Combined Authority's #spotlightonrail. The new Eastern Entrance is one of three new and improved entrances to Bristol Temple Meads station to be delivered as part of the #TempleQuarter programme. These new entrances, funded by Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, will unlock new development around the station, helping us bring the homes, jobs and opportunities the region needs. Watch the video below and see the Eastern Entrance become a reality after years of planning and partnership work 👇
Last week, we celebrated the completion of works on the new Eastern Entrance to Bristol Temple Meads station. The new entrance, one of three funded by £94.7m of government funding secured by the Mayoral Combined Authority, will dramatically improve access to and from the station to the east of Bristol. By 2030, it’s anticipated 2.5m people a year will use the entrance. The site will now be handed over to the University of Bristol to continue work on the new Enterprise Campus for the next two years. The new entrance is a major achievement for the Bristol Temple Quarter programme. By delivering new infrastructure and station entrances, we are unlocking land to deliver the new homes, jobs and opportunities the West of England needs, and helping to make Bristol Temple Meads station a world-class gateway to our region. This milestone would not have been possible without a partnership approach between the #TempleQuarter partners - Homes England, Bristol City Council, Network Rail and University of Bristol, and the support of Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government funding, awarded in 2022. Take a look at three years of construction in just two minutes!

🏗️Yesterday we celebrated the practical completion of works on the new Eastern Entrance to Bristol Temple Meads station. 🎓We are now handing the site over to University of Bristol, which will continue work on the new Enterprise Campus for the next two years, including delivering the public realm outside the entrance. Both buildings will open in Autumn 2026. 🚄When open, the new entrance will open directly into the new campus, as well as dramatically improving access to and from the station to the east of Bristol. By 2030, 2.5m people a year will use this entrance. 🤝This major milestone would not have been possible without a partnership approach between the #TempleQuarter partners - Homes England, Bristol City Council, West of England Combined Authority, Network Rail and University of Bristol, and the support of Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government funding, awarded in 2022. 📩 Want to find out more? Brilliant to be at the "topping out" of the University of Bristol Enterprise Campus at #TempleQuarter this afternoon, hosted by their contractor Sir Robert McAlpine. The £500m campus is a major catalyst for the wider regeneration of the area. The 38,000sqm academic building will help to strengthen the data science, digital innovation, creative industries, cyber and quantum technology sectors that are already flourishing in Bristol and the West of England. The new Eastern Entrance to Bristol Temple Meads station will open directly into the campus, with both opening in Autumn 2026. The pictures show just how close the two buildings are to each other! The delivery of the new Eastern Entrance to Bristol Temple Meads station is a major milestone for the #TempleQuarter programme. With works nearing completion, it is great to reflect on the successful result of years of partnership working between the BTQ partners - Bristol City Council, Homes England, West of England Combined Authority and Network Rail, and University of Bristol, as well as the impact of Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government funding in unlocking regeneration opportunities. Soon, we will hand over to the university to continue works on the new Enterprise Campus. Both entrance and campus will open in Autumn 2026, transforming access to the east of Bristol. Check out the video below for a short update on progress from the project team.
So great seeing the new Eastern Entrance for Bristol Temple Meads nearing the finish line. It's been fascinating watching it take shape over the past year. Having first heard about plans for it in a Swindon meeting room a fair few years ago, I've been following it ever since. Looking forward to using it from 2026 and delighted to have posted the below on X this evening... Thank you Daniel Parkes Alex Phillips and Glyn Cryer for all the access to film and for your friendly hospitality. 🚪 It's into the final stages for now for our new @TempleQuarter Eastern Entrance at Bristol Temple Meads. 🫰 Funded from @luhc's £95m, it opens in 2026 with the @BristolUni campus. 🎬 Alex Phillips explains... #BristolRailRegen

🎈🎈🎈What a view! An amazing view of the University of Bristol Enterprise Campus taken from a hot air balloon during this weekend's Bristol International Balloon Fiesta. The image gives a good idea of the scale of the new campus, which only began construction in April 2023. Approximately two years to go until it welcomes students, researchers and the public in 2026. 📸 Credit to Richard Bonner, Chair of the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership.
