We have been working closely with Tata Steel UK since September 2022, supporting with the feasibility studies associated with the construction of the new state-of-the-art facility, and have previous experience of working in Port Talbot having been responsible for the construction of various parts of the steelworks over the past 70 years. Craig Allen BSc (Hons), MBA, FCIOB, Managing Director, Industrial, Sir Robert McAlpine, said: “We are proud to be part of the decarbonisation of Port Talbot steelworks, which will play a pivotal role in turning the Port Talbot site into a world-leading hub for sustainable steel production. Our robust relationship with Tata Steel UK and long-standing industrial expertise makes us the ideal partner for this transformation. Find out how the Raptor cranes used by our Sir Robert McAlpine project team in the construction of 2 Finsbury Avenue for British Land are helping to drive productivity. A Raptor crane is a type of plant designed for lifting in tight spaces, especially in confined inner-city sites and where air space restrictions are a major issue. We’re thrilled that Riverside Sunderland Multi Storey Car Park (MSCP) at Farringdon Row won “Infrastructure and Transport Project of the Year” at the 2024 Architects’ Journal Awards. The 657 space Riverside MSCP was designed by architectural firms Ryder Architecture and Tonkin Liu, and constructed by Sir Robert McAlpine for Sunderland City Council. The MSCP was described as bringing 'a real sense of joy' to judges, with a distinguished panel of experts saying: "The designers have done a brilliant job in turning what could have been a difficult brief into something beautiful and elegant. This brings a smile to the face." The car park, which opened last summer, spans a remarkable 11 levels and showcases a captivating design that comes to life in the evening with its mesmerising illumination. A key highlight of this remarkable structure is the incorporation of two living walls, adorned with over 50,000 plants, including several native species carefully selected for their suitability to the local climate. Congratulations to everyone involved in its design and construction 👏 More about the winners👉 https://lnkd.in/e3gPwUBm #Transport #Infrastrcture #Awards #Sunderland

Congratulations to the project team at 2 Finsbury Avenue, who celebrated reaching the lowest point of the foundations with a bottoming out ceremony last week. Guests attended the spectacular event in the colossal cathedral-like basement of the development, 50 metres below ground, on virgin clay that was the bed of a tropical sea 56 million years ago. Sir Robert McAlpine is delivering the scheme for British Land using top down construction. While the superstructure has risen some 120m above street level, the team have also been busy simultaneously digging out 36,500m3 of earth to form the scheme’s three levels of basement. 2FA will create a new benchmark for highly sustainable workspace in central London with BREEAM Outstanding, WELL Platinum, EPC A and NABERS 5-star ratings. It will be all-electric, and a smart-enabled development ensuring leading carbon and energy efficiency in operation. Huge thanks to all the project's partners and supply chain! 3XN/GXN - William Hare Group - Ramboll - ~Clipfine Ltd - GKR Group Ltd - Morrisroe - Robert Bird Group and Skanska Cementation Read more about the event 🔗https://lnkd.in/e7-YgXem #CommitAndCollaborate #Construction #LoveConstruction #Sustainability

We love to see the Ogee arches being installed at Three Chamberlain Square in Birmingham. They look fantastic and are a perfect example of sustainable engineering excellence! Congratulations to everyone involved in fixing them in place 👏
Have you seen the Ogee arches have begun to be fixed in place at Three Chamberlain Square? There are a total of 46 arches framing the ground and first-floor glazing, standing up to 8.7m tall. The classically inspired detailing of the arches pays further homage to the Victorian terracotta buildings across Birmingham, like the Victoria Law Courts, School of Art and other similar buildings on Edmund Street and Church Street. 🧱 #exteriorarchitecture #commercialrealestateagent #officespace
