We are a cultural charity, a National Lottery distributor, and the UK's lead organisation for film and the moving image. Funded by the UK Government. Our mission is: • To support creativity and actively seek out the next generation of UK storytellers • To grow and care for the BFI National Archive, the world’s largest film and television archive • To offer the widest range of UK and international moving image culture through our programmes and festivals — delivered online and in venue • To use our knowledge to educate and deepen public appreciation and understanding of film and the moving image • To work with Government and industry to ensure the continued growth of the UK’s screen industries Founded in 1933, the BFI is a registered charity governed by Royal Charter. If you struggle to remember which way the clocks are turning, you're not alone. In 1979, shoppers in Saltash, Cornwall were asked how they were preparing for the the last Sunday of March, with many not knowing if we got an hour more or less in bed. Dreamers, a raw and honest six-part series follows a group of dance students as they navigate life’s highs and lows, both on and off the dancefloor. Created by Lisa Holdsworth and produced by Duck Soup Films, Dreamers, has its TV premiere this Sunday on Channel 4. The drama series champions characters who have been workshopped and were inspired by true stories from Leeds with support from the Young Audiences Content Fund, which was managed by the BFI and funded by the UK Government.
