Fort Kinnaird has set a new benchmark in 2023 with a record 13.8 million visitors, showcasing the strength of our retail parks model. Sam Brown MRICS, Asset Manager for this 560,000 sq ft leisure and retail destination on the A1 near Edinburgh, recently shared insights with Completely Retail on the growing appeal and potential of accessible, out-of-town retail parks for both customers and a diverse range of occupiers. Fort Kinnaird is home to leading high-street fashion, beauty, health, food and beverage, and leisure brands, alongside thriving local independents and a multiplex cinema. In the past year, visitors frequented the park up to 28 times, with an impressive 96-minute dwell time. This has driven a remarkable 78% retail spend conversion rate and a 67% average conversion rate in catering. As one of the UK's largest retail park owners and operators, British Land holds 8% of the market and continues to see strong leasing momentum, with 99% occupancy across our portfolio. Our popular Ealing Broadway School Uniform Store has reopened for the summer holidays. Thanks to the support of 1,673 generous visitors and the local community, we've received 8,969 donated items and collected 3,919 items. In its third year, our free pop-up shop has supported over 4,000 families with more than 11,300 donated, pre-loved school items. Our Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre team has been collecting donations since early June, bringing pre-loved uniforms, footware, bags and sports kits to support local parents and children, while also preventing several tonnes of clothing going to landfill. 🌟 Celebrating one year since we raised £45,000 for Hopscotch! 🌟 Last year, in honour of Hopscotch Women's Centre's 25th anniversary, we hosted a charity abseil at our Regent’s Place Campus, raising funds to support women facing domestic abuse and inequality. One of the biggest challenges climate technology startups face in the early stages, is acquiring their own R&D facilities. Prosemino work collaboratively with entrepreneurs to scale ventures that are driving positive change in the world, and its expansion to The Paper Yard at Canada Water will not only catalyse their growth but will provide a unique boost to the sector. As we launch our newest flexible workspace, Storey at 201 Bishopsgate in Broadgate, we caught up with Head of Storey Becky Gardiner on the demand for sustainable workspace, materials reuse and taking lessons from previous projects to move the dial on our offer for customers and the local community. “Storey seeks to lead the way in sustainable fitouts,” says Gardiner. “This is not only the right thing to do, it’s also good for our bottom line – reusing materials and improving energy efficiency – and supports British Land’s decarbonisation targets, showing best practice for occupiers.” Discover more about how we’ve brought responsible design choices to life at Storey.
