Project Skymast, led by Stratospheric Platforms Ltd (SPL), won this year’s ‘Information, Data & Connectivity’ category. The project is a collaboration between SPL, Cambridge Consultants, BT Group, Marshall and Britten-Norman for the development of advanced airborne 5G connectivity from the sky. EVIA AERO GmbH and Britten-Norman have signed a Letter of Intent for fifteen new Islander aircraft in a boost for zero-emissions aviation. The 15 Islander aircraft acquired from Britten-Norman will commence delivery at the beginning of 2027. These aircraft will subsequently be converted to zero-emissions platforms powered by hydrogen fuel-cell propulsion systems. In addition to the aircraft purchase, the collaboration includes the redesigning of the Islander’s interior for a next-generation passenger experience. Cape Air reveals new livery celebrating Caribbean spirit. Islander operator Cape Air has revealed a special livery for one of its Britten-Norman aircraft that pays homage to the vibrant life and nature of the Caribbean. Beginning on November 13th 2024, passengers travelling to Virgin Gorda and Culebra via Cape Air’s Caribbean hub in San Juan can have the pleasure of experiencing this visually striking livery first-hand. The colourful livery includes a sea turtle, hibiscus flowers and schools of fish. Inspired by the beauty of the Caribbean, the design encapsulates the essence of the region, reflecting Cape Air's deep-rooted affinity for its Caribbean operations.

The Falkland Islands Government has signed a Letter of Intent with Britten-Norman with a view to ordering four new BN2B-26 Islander aircraft at a total value of $9.75 million. The order is in addition to two aircraft that FIGAS has already contracted Britten-Norman to build, the first of which is now in service. All the new aircraft will be delivered from Britten-Norman’s UK based manufacturing line on the Isle of Wight, which was launched in late 2023 after re-shoring from overseas. William Hynett, Chief Executive at Britten-Norman, commented: “We are so pleased to have such an incredible opportunity to build a new chapter in our long-standing relationship with the Falkland Islands Government and to continue to support the communities of these important islands.” Read more:

Xen Aviation, a start-up domestic operator based in Georgetown Guyana, has finalised a deal to acquire its first Britten-Norman turbine powered Islander. The BN2T-4S, an enlarged turboprop variant of the renowned piston version of the Islander aircraft, will be the first operated in Guyana. The aircraft will be used by Xen Aviation to enhance regional connectivity and support its planned commuter services across the country. Ronaldo Alphonso at Xen Aviation commented: “We believe this variant of the Islander is a perfect fit for our mission to introduce superior safety, comfort and choice to the Guyana aviation market, targeting everyday commuters, government and international business operators, all at a competitive price.” William Hynett, Chief Executive at Britten-Norman said: “We are delighted to confirm this order with Xen Aviation & Services Inc., marking a significant milestone as the first BN2T-4S Islander to be used for commuter services in Guyana.
