Remembrance Day 2024 Today we remember the brave men and women who served our nation. Lest we forget 🫡🌺

We’re delighted to continue our sponsorship of local grass roots football at West Didsbury & Chorlton AFC. A true community club with over 150 registered footballers from U5 to U18 age groups, plus well supported Mens and Womens Teams. The Mens team are currently on a fantastic 10 game unbeaten run in the North West Counties Premier and through to the FA Vase 2nd round, whilst the Women have had some excellent recent wins in North West Womens Regional League. On Saturday October 5th, it was great to hear that one of our Senior Structural Technicians at Burrows Graham, Richard Leach participated in the 17th annual Ride to the Wall (RTTW) at the National Memorial Arboretum. This event brought together over 10,000 motorcycle enthusiasts, along with families and friends from across the UK and several European countries, for a Service of Remembrance to honor and reflect on those who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice in our Armed Forces. 🏍 🎖 Below are the thoughts of Richard who attended this very special tribute: "My good friend and I traveled to the National Arboretum near Alrewas, Staffordshire, to pay our respects to the service men and women who have fallen in action since World War II - a total of over 16,000 brave souls who are sadly missed. It is always a privilege to share such an emotional day with veterans from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The organisation of this event was exemplary, starting from our gathering at Knutsford services with over 500 motorcycles and culminating in the Remembrance Service and fly-by of the Lancaster Bomber. Not to mention, we were fortunate to experience glorious weather. 2025 RTTW is already penned in my diary!! If you have never attended, please note that you do not have to be a motorcyclist to participate. You can also visit on another day, and I assure you - once you do, you will want to go back. In reflection, I encourage everyone to cherish your loved ones, enjoy your day, and embrace happiness. As we remember the 16,000 service members who no longer have that luxury, may they never be forgotten" Lastly, a special thanks to Martin Dickinson, the founder of RTTW, an ex-serviceman who lost dear friends in action, for creating this remarkable event. Had a lovely time in Amsterdam on Thursday/Friday enjoying Glencar’s post Shedmasters hospitality. The overnight trip has turned into an unexpected 3 night mini break due to flight cancellations… but given beautiful weather in a beautiful city there are a lot worse places to be stranded in!
