  • We had an amazing time at the South Yorkshire Tech Summit. We connected with business leaders, founders, investors, and policymakers, all committed to accelerating our region’s thriving tech sector. A major highlight was the launch of the Dealroom.co South Yorkshire report, which revealed that startups in the North of England generate over £7.50 in value for every £1 of VC investment. That’s not just above the UK average—it’s ahead of London. South Yorkshire is emerging as a powerhouse of innovation in the UK, providing the perfect environment to launch, grow, and scale a tech startup. Let's keep the conversation going as we anticipate ClimbUK25. #BusinessSheffield

  • We’re proud to have supported this report with TECH SY and to celebrate the amazing work that women founders are doing in Sheffield.   Business Sheffield recently welcomed 20 female founders, 35% of the overall cohort, to the Tech Forge accelerator. Their innovative ideas and products span multiple tech industries, and we’re happy to support them on their journey. While there’s still more to be done, collaborations like this, alongside initiatives such as Women in Tech meetup, are key to driving greater inclusivity and opportunities in the region. As we mark International Women’s Day, let’s continue to champion and empower women both in Sheffield and beyond. Anne Brennan |Sally-Ann Penistone |Marie Kaznowski #BusinessSheffield

Last week TECH SY Tracey Johnson and British Business Bank Cat Smith held a roundtable meeting focused on addressing gender inequality in the tech and investment sectors in South Yorkshire. The meeting, chaired by Kate Josephs CB, aimed to identify barriers faced by female founders and to discuss actionable solutions to improve their representation and success in these fields. To support the outcomes, and ahead of International Women's Day on Saturday 8th March, we're publishing this report to highlight the challenges and focus on the successes, and the positive impact investing in women-led tech businesses has on our South Yorkshire economy. View the report, and download it online here: https://lnkd.in/e2Gxpant Over the course of TECH SY, we will look more deeply into the data, profiling and increasing the visibility of female founders in South Yorkshire. We will look into the investment in these businesses, identifying what sectors they are in, and what they are raising. Moving forward, we will work collaboratively to map out our ecosystem and support women in tech. We will highlight successful journeys, spotlight the gaps, and will use our 5-10 year action plan to improve the situation as it currently stands through positive actions. #WomenInTech #InvestInWomen #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction
