Our Regenerate South Action Group is a unique gathering of minds from the public and private sector with a passion for the built environment and achieving the best for the #CentralSouthUK. We had 35 leading names from across the geography on the call and the focus was on the National Planning Policy Framework reform. Jon Gateley from Savills gave an insightful overview of what is happening and how it affects our geography. As you can see from the images his slides focusing on housing and the new targets expected by the government call for a 50% increase in the number of houses currently being built rising from 6,000 per annum to 12,000. There is still one week to go until the deadline of September 24th for interested parties to make their thoughts known. Such a fascinating presentation by Fiona Gray, Director of Place for Buckland Group Limited at our recent Housing Group meeting. She was able to share latest news from the Welborne UK which is taking shape near Fareham. Twenty years on from when the idea for Welborne Garden Village was mooted, the first houses will be completed by the end of this year and impressive green infrastructure is taking root. Fiona stressed the importance of place making and the long-term vision for Welborne. It is so exciting to have such a well-considered development happening in the #CentralSouthUK – with such a keen focus on housing, there are many lessons to be learnt from this visionary garden village. Calling Portsmouth Businesses! We are excited to invite Portsmouth businesses to get involved in the ongoing renovation of Hilsea Lido, set for completion in 2025, which is the same year as the 90th anniversary! 🎉 We're hosting a special event on Tuesday, 24 September, from 1-3pm at the Blue Lagoon near the Lido, to explore how local companies can contribute to making this beloved community space even better. Whether you have a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative or simply want to give back to the community, there are opportunities to donate items like lighting, seating, or even sponsor the restored fountain. Attendees will also enjoy freshly cooked pizza courtesy of Beard, the project contractors, and get an exclusive look at the progress so far. Interested? Confirm your spot by emailing hilsealines@portsmouthcc.gov.uk Find out more https://lnkd.in/e_PaxWND #Portsmouth #Community #BusinessSupport #HilseaLido #CSR #PortsmouthBusiness #Renovation
