A massive well done to our Sustainabilty Manager Jenny Greenwood for adding a PIABC Level 5 Diploma to her list of qualifications. #welldeserved
Four years ago, someone questioned how I could talk about sustainability without fully understanding materials. With 15+ years of experience across luxury and FMCG, I was politely p****d off. But instead of arguing, I set out to prove it—by mastering my polymers and pulps through a diploma in packaging technology. Since then, life threw some of its biggest challenges my way. I moved house, had my beautiful baby girl, returned to work part-time, and juggled it all alongside my studies. At times, I wondered if finishing was even possible (which, if you know me, isn't my style). But today, I can proudly say I didn’t just complete it—I earned my PIABC Level 5 Diploma in Packaging Technology with distinction. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. And now, no one can question my seat at the table. Big thanks to all those who supported me throughout!

A little taster of Butterfly Cannon Sustainability Manager, Jenny Greenwood’s talk at the 2025 Print Design Summit. Where Jenny will be sharing ‘3 Lessons In Luxury’. A big thank you to Dave Hopkins for inviting Jenny to speak. Put the 8th March in your calendar and watch this space for more info… #printdesign #packagingdesign #sustainabledesign
When it comes to luxury packaging—𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹. You won’t believe the options out there. Here’s a new one… I can’t take credit for this find. This one comes from Jenny Greenwood, Sustainability & Realisation Expert at Butterfly Cannon. She’s one of the Print Design Summit speakers, sharing 3 lessons in luxury packaging—focused on materials. I was getting a sneak peek at her presentation and came across a paper I had never heard of before. Shiro Alga Carta from Favini in Italy It’s made from overabundant seaweed and invasive algae from the Venice waterways. “Look at all this algae. It’s damaging the ecosystem and doesn’t look very nice… I think we should make a luxury uncoated paper from it.” Said only 𝗼𝗻𝗲 person ever. But they did it. Without giving away too much from Jenny’s talk, this paper was the 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝘁 for a packaging project where the product itself involves seaweed. Using the material to help tell the product story and help the consumer form a deeper connection with the brand. Graphic Designers, there are literally thousands of paper options out there. And endless other materials. When you get a project where unique materials could help tell the brand story, dig around and see what you can find. There probably are some materials out there that can help enhance the brand experience for your clients. Let materials do some of the storytelling for you. PS: If you are at Favini - hit me up - I NEED a set of these swatch books. #graphicdesign #printdesign #packagingdesign
