As part of our ongoing research with The DisOrdinary Architecture Project—focused on exploring inclusive design in the built environment—this week we visited our second site, Crossrail Place, Canary Wharf Group. The mixed-use scheme is located in the north dock of Canary Wharf, and connects visitors with retail units, transport links, and access to nature and public spaces. The research group is made up of a diverse group of creatives with dynamic disabilities and intersectional perspectives. Their insights will drive the project, exploring lived experiences and embedding a more holistic and inclusive vision for the built environment. #InclusiveDesign #Architecture #Design #AccessibleDesign #DisabilityDesign

What does it take to become an effective urban change maker? 1. The best way to predict the future is to create it. Fast forward 35 years from our inception to the thriving neighbourhood we have today. How did we get here? We saw opportunities, adding key transport links, creating a bustling residential neighbourhood - now 3,500 residents strong, bringing experience-led amenities, expanding our parks and accessibility to our waterways and now, building a world-class life sciences cluster.  2. If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go further, go together. Collaboration with partners that share our purpose is key. The Felix Project, Eden Project, Transport for London, Canal & River Trust and London Borough of Tower Hamlets are all great examples of how we engage with our community to move forward stronger. 3. Leave the place better than when you found it. From brownfield to a vibrant city within a city. Our purpose is bringing people together to enhance lives now and in the future. At CWG we work hard to ensure that everyone can enjoy our evolving, extraordinary environment. Great to speak alongside Tom Roberts, Andrea Carpenter and José Luis Martínez-Almeida Navasqüés on the MIPIM Leaders' Perspective Stage to discuss the opportunities ahead for bringing about urban change at scale. • Featured in this month's Business Traveler, Canary Wharf's evolution in action💥 In 2015, a remarkable shift in Canary Wharf's trajectory began with the inception of our residential neighbourhood, Wood Wharf. Fast-forward ten years and Wood Wharf is thriving seven days a week, now home to over 3,500 people offering green open spaces, waterside boardwalks, top restaurants, shopping and services all minutes apart 🚶♂️ But our evolution doesn't stop at residential. If you've visited us over the last few years you'll have seen the exciting additions of experience-led retail such as Fairgame, Padium and THE CUBE, alongside a renewed connection to the water through our transformation of Eden Dock. With the recent launch of our very first aparthotel Vertus Edit, there is even more opportunity to visit and explore our London neighbourhood. We would love to hear your personal thoughts and experiences on how Canary Wharf has evolved, let us know in the comments ⬇️

  • Celebrating the female entrepreneurs that are shaping Canary Wharf's business landscape 👏 Meet Kamden Monplaisir, founder of the independent, boutique nail bar business AWE London, set to open in Wood Wharf this spring. We met up with her ahead of International Women's Day to find out more about her entrepreneurial journey, balancing a newborn at home with running a thriving business, alongside shining a spotlight on the remarkable female-led businesses who are shaping our community at Canary Wharf. Canary Wharf is proud to be home to numerous businesses with strong female leadership, including 🥗atis,🕯️Diptyque Paris and ☕Caravan Restaurants | B Corp™. These businesses demonstrate the power of women supporting women and contribute to the vibrant, diverse ecosystem at Canary Wharf. We invite you to join us in recognising the incredible female entrepreneurs and leaders in your network. Who inspires you with their leadership, innovation, or resilience?

  • Ramadan Mubarak! ☪️ Throughout Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the holy month of fasting and prayer, a crescent and star light installation will be lit in the heart of Jubilee Park in recognition of this special time for our Muslim community. The five-pointed star reflects the Five Pillars of Islam which are central to the faith, and the crescent moon relates to the greatness of the creator. Those observing Ramadan are invited to join us at the light in Jubilee Park on Friday 28 March, 5:30-6:30pm where we will be handing out gifts and treats for breaking fast 🥜🍬 Our prayer space calendar can also be found on our website here - https://lnkd.in/eXBJE9hZ #Ramadan #CanaryWharf
