We’re delighted to partner with University of Exeter on the net zero theme for our 2024 Annual Conference on 25 November. Earlier this week, they launched a guide for MPs to help policymakers make climate decisions backed by powerful evidence. We think it’s also a great introduction for any business looking to deepen their knowledge of climate change. Check it out 👇 https://lnkd.in/ehZb5fAV #universityofexeter #climatechange #netzero

Chief Executive of the Confederation of British Industry. Board Executive, NED, Sustainability & International Leader.
So brilliant to be part of the #TransitionFinanceMarketReview, an vital piece of work for our transition to a net zero economy. Can’t wait to work with CBI (Confederation of British Industry) members and policymakers in the UK and globally to turn the recommendations into action. Thank you to all the brilliant members who helped and Vanessa Havard-Williams for leading the charge

Today the Transition Finance Market Review publishes its final report. The report, co-sponsored by HM Treasury and Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, provides a growth framework for transition finance – financial products and services that facilitate an economy-wide transition to net zero. The report emphasises the need for a national transition plan, stronger financial incentives and a supportive regulatory environment. It puts forward recommendations on how to unlock the required levels of finance by creating the right policies, pathways and signals for investment through collaboration between government, investors, business and civil society. Deloitte has been pleased to support the TFMR through the Expert Group and Secretariat. Many thanks to my colleagues Philip Coleman, Luke Dickinson and Lucy Herriot. You can download the report here: https://lnkd.in/eFrAAcXW The Review was chaired by Vanessa Havard-Williams and hosted by the City of London Corporation and it has been a pleasure to work alongside a highly supportive and engaged Expert Group. ||André Abadie || Clara Barby || Bridget Beals || Joanna Bonnett || Ben Caldecott || Alice Carr || Rebekah Clement || James Close || Jonathan Dunn || Daniel Hanna || David Harris || Kate Levick || Rain Newton-Smith || Will Oulton || Anjuli Pandit || Tom Tayler || Irem Yerdelen #TransitionFinanceMarketReview #IndependentReview #SustainableFinance || Steve Farrell || Katherine Lampen || Anne-Marie Malley || Loree M. The CBI (Confederation of British Industry) is encouraged by the Government’s Industrial Strategy Green Paper. We welcome a drive to make big industrial bets, to boost investment, productivity and jobs over the long term, while also addressing the need to overcome barriers to growth. Businesses will be equally reassured by its focus on enablers like reducing regulatory burdens, launching the Industrial Strategy Council and implementing a Green Paper response alongside the Spending Review in Spring 2025. We will continue to work in partnership with government to deliver growth through the Industrial Strategy, putting business at its heart. Specifically, we will engage on the fiscal strengths and creative solutions required to fund and deliver success across all sectors and regions. The UK has a world-leading start-up ecosystem. Now is the time for the government to deliver the conditions for these businesses to scale and be the Growth Engines the economy needs. Growth Engines is the CBI's new scale-up playbook which sets out recommendations the government can implement to support businesses to scale. Developed with members at various stages of scaling, the playbook spans four areas: pro-innovation regulation, unleashing investment, harnessing our national assets and access to the best talent. As Rain Newton-Smith says in her op-ed in today's City AM: “With bright spots emerging in our economy and a new government geared towards change, this can and must be the time for growth: a moment when we turn from the short-term shock-absorption of recent years to the long-term, sustainable growth we so badly need. Seizing that moment starts with looking not just to the businesses of today, but also those of tomorrow: the scale-ups that will be the engines of our future growth and the source of innovations that will help solve the problems of tomorrow.” #GrowthEngines Read the full article here: https://bit.ly/482kwrz
