Make UK reposted this
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the Electrify Industry launch in the House of Commons Wednesday evening. It was energising to see so many passionate industrial leaders talking about what is possible using the technology of today, if the UK can get the policies right. The conversations we had in the House of Commons made one thing very clear... 📢 The UK can and must enable industrial electrification as a matter of priority ⛔ Failure to do so will cost our nation and its industrial base Billions in lost investment, threaten the country's long-term competitiveness📉 and result in the unnecessary and avoidable loss of manufacturers 🏗️ Success will help industry maintain and, in some areas, regain its competitive advantage on the international stage 🌍 and ensure that we maintain a diverse economy, producing high-value, quality manufactured good for decades to come 🎉

One week ago today, manufacturers nationwide gathered for our flagship National Manufacturing Conference 2025. 📌 We kicked off with the brilliant Robert Peston, who gave a sharp analysis of UK and global politics, highlighting the impact of US tariffs and the need for a coherent industrial strategy for the UK. Our breakout sessions covered some of the most critical topics for the sector — from #AIadoption and sustaining manufacturing skills to integrating #ESGStrategies and exploring opportunities in the nuclear supply chain and UK steel sector. A huge highlight was hearing from the Chancellor, Rt Hon Rachel Reeves who shared the government’s plan for industrial growth and made exciting announcements around cutting red tape and creating a defence innovation hub. We also heard from Andrew Griffith, who addressed the economic challenges ahead and how manufacturers can drive future growth. We wrapped up with an inspiring talk from Rob Law MBE of Trunki (Heroes Group) — a true #UKManufacturing success story. His journey from rejected ideas to global success was a perfect reminder of the innovation and resilience within our sector. A special thank you to Steph McGovern — a fierce advocate for our industry — and to the incredible Make UK team for putting together this remarkable event. As we look ahead, the message is clear: when government and business work together, there’s nothing we can’t achieve. Let’s turn words into action and continue driving UK manufacturing success in 2025 and beyond! 💡 #MakeUK2025 #ShoutAboutUKmfg
