❗ We are currently unable to take card payments at the Town Hall or over the phone. You can still make payments online through My Chesterfield.  We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

❗ We have found some more false QR codes on payment machines and parking boards – we do not use QR codes to link to payment methods in our car parks. We are working to remove these as quickly as possible and have reported them to the police – in the meantime please do not scan these QR codes.  If you need to pay for parking, you can do this with cash or by using the RingGo app which is only available from either the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

❗ Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service will be using Saltergate multi-storey car park for a training exercise from around 7pm tonight.  The car park will remain open but the alarm will be ringing - our staff will be available to answer customer questions and ensure they can still access the car park.

🧗♂️ On Sunday around 30 people 'jumped' off the Town Hall to raise money for the Mayor's Appeal!   The charity abseil has raised thousands of pounds for the Mayor's Appeal which this year is raising money for Derbyshire Law Centre, Chesterfield Royal Charity, supporting staff’s health and wellbeing post-Covid, and Rural Action Derbyshire’s Feeding Chesterfield initiative.   Thank you to everyone who took part!

😍 Phase one of our town centre regeneration is now complete and we've welcomed the first traders back today!   Work in the upper half of the Market square has included the installation of new feature paving, relaying of the traditional cobbles, the creation of bespoke market stalls, new street furniture and improvements to drainage, security and other infrastructure.   Works in the lower half of the market square will begin with the historic cobbles being lifted, and re-laid and some new paving will also be installed – together this will maintain the historic look but will provide a more level surface throughout the Market Place, making it easier for people with accessibility issues such as wheelchair and mobility scooter users or parents with pushchairs to navigate the market. While works on phase two are underway a small number of traders will be on stalls in a new temporary market area in New Square. New market stalls will be built and a new central area in the market place will have feature paving inspired by designs in the Market Hall and provide space for food traders and to support town centre events.
