* Press Release * ⚖️ New enforcement guidance launched to improve safety of cosmetic procedures New enforcement guidance for buttock augmentation and other body contouring procedures has been launched by the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP), supported by CIEH and the British Beauty Council. This guidance was developed in response to reports of significant public harm caused by unqualified practitioners performing procedures such as the 'Brazilian Bum Lift.' It also addresses concerns related to injections into the breasts and genitals. Mark Elliott, President of CIEH, said: "There has been a big increase in the prevalence of cosmetic procedures in recent years, fuelled by social media, the proliferation of high street beauty outlets and a dramatic increase in the range of procedures available. This new guidance on body augmentation procedures will be invaluable to environmental health professionals in dealing with procedures which pose a risk of serious personal injury when carried out by unsuitably trained practitioners. On World Mental Health Day, we are proud to support the OSH Alliance in releasing a set of recommendations to address workplace mental health issues, alongside eight key partners. We are calling on the Government to provide adequate funding for local authority Environmental Health teams. This paper outlines priorities for managing workplace safety and includes vital recommendations for the Government.
