🌍Cyfarfod cynhyrchiol o'r Panel Safoni Enwau Lleoedd ddoe yn y Ganolfan Uwchefrydiau Cymraeg a Cheltaidd. Mae'r Panel wedi dechrau creu rhestr o enwau Cymraeg cyfoes ar gyfer trefi a dinasoedd gweddill y DU. The Panel has started creating a list of contemporary Welsh names for towns and cities across the rest of the UK. Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Welsh in the Third Sector networking event yesterday!🌟 We had an inspiring day sharing ideas, learning, and discussing the importance of the Welsh language in the third sector.

Below is a snapshot of the day’s events 👇 👉 Efa Gruffudd Jones, Welsh Language Commissioner opened the conference: "It is not just a matter of creating speakers, it is necessary to ensure that the language is alive, that individuals maintain their skills when leaving the education system, are able to use the language in all aspects of life, and that it is passed on naturally within families and within communities." 👉 Osian Gwion Llywelyn, Deputy Welsh Language Commissioner discussed the Commissinoer’s role and how we promote compliance through co-regulation. 👉 Gwyndaf Tobias FCPFA, Chief Executive of Monmouthshire Housing Society, discussed the opportunities and challanges they face: "The way forward is to make better use of technology, raise awareness among staff and tenants of the opportunities available, and collaborate with other organisations." 👉 Sarah McCarty, Chief Executive of Gofal Cymdeithasol Cymru / Social Care Wales, shared her experience of leadership and the Welsh language and creating a bilingual culture: “All public services in Wales have got a responsibility to use Welsh in all that we do.” 👉 We had an interesting panel discussion between Aled Davies, Adra Housing Association, Sarah McCarty, Social Care Wales, Gwyndaf Tobias, Monmouthshire Housing Association, Dave Matthews, Awdurdod Cyllid Cymru | Welsh Revenue Authority & Claire Roberts, Qualifications Wales / Cymwysterau Cymru on sharing experiences and preparing for and implementing the Welsh language standards. 👉 Dona Lewis, Chief Executive of Y Ganolfan Dysgu Cymraeg Genedlaethol / The National Centre for Learning Welsh, discussed the resources and support they offer. 👉 Rhodri Roberts, Senior Regulation Officer, outlined the process for setting Welsh language standards and what to expect over the coming months. 📢 If you attended, we’d love to hear your thoughts—what did you find most useful? Braf oedd cael bod mewn cynhadledd a drefnwyd gan Comisiynydd y Gymraeg/ Welsh Language Commissioner yng Nghaerdydd heddiw i drafod y Safonau Iaith fydd yn cael eu cyflwyno i’r sector dai. Roedd Aled Davies, ein Pennaeth Llywodraethu yn rhan o banel drafodaeth arbennig ac roedd yn gyfle gwych i ni rannu ein profiadau o hyrwyddo gwasanaethau Cymraeg a hybu diwylliant Cymreig o fewn ein gweithleoedd. Gret oedd gweld a chlywed gan amryw o sefydliadau eraill- mae angen cydweithio er mwyn sicrhau bod yr iaith Gymraeg yn ffynnu ac yn iaith i bawb.

It was great to attend a conference arranged by Comisiynydd y Gymraeg/ Welsh Language Commissioner in Cardiff today to discuss the Welsh Language Standards that will be introduced to the housing sector. Aled Davies, our Head of Governance was part of a discussion panel and it was a great opportunity for us to showcase our experiences of promoting Welsh language services and the language culture in our workplaces. Good to hear from a number of other organisations too – there’s a need for joint working to make sure that the Welsh language thrives and is a language for everyone.
