"Inclusive economic growth in West London is vital for our residents and businesses, as well as being vital to London, the UK and with our global connections, the world." Cllr Barry Rawlings, West London Alliance (WLA) Chair and Leader London Borough of Barnet. I am very pleased to share the 2023/24 WLA Annual Report, highlighting a year of collaborative achievements across our seven boroughs and with partners throughout London and beyond. This report shows how we have advanced key projects and services across employment support, skills development, temporary housing, social care, and digital and transport infrastructure, all to support a thriving and sustainable West London – one that is more inclusive, productive, resilient, and influential. I hope you enjoy reading about how we’re working to connect our communities to opportunities in the world's most connected place.

We are delighted to be presenting a Health & Housing workshop at the upcoming London Housing Summit 2024, run by the Centre for London The workshop will explore how good health and good housing go hand in hand, and how local authorities and health bodies can work better together to deliver them. Supported by NHS partners, we will explore how West London is collaborating across housing and health in two pilot areas – combatting damp and mould, and taking a more joined-up approach to homeless hospital discharge and complex health and housing cases – and then look to exchange experiences and ideas with partners across the capital.  Read more about the event here: https://lnkd.in/eBim2tSE

Rising pressures mean it's increasingly difficult for local authorities to meet their sufficiency duty. As a result, officers can find themselves relying on the informal relationships their staff form with provider contacts to find placements. But what happens when those staff leave or move on? Crucial links and information can be lost. This is one of the many reasons we are committed to building communities of practice around specific commissioning areas. By sharing knowledge, building connections between LAs and providers, and by facilitating joined-up working, we can help to bridge some of these inevitable knowledge gaps. Please do get in touch if you would like to hear more about the forums and events we host and how you can get involved.

We're very proud to have welcomed London Borough of Lambeth, Lewisham Lewisham Council, and London Borough of Bexley to our Children's programme over the course of last year. In 7 years we have grown from the 7 West London boroughs of the West London Alliance to working on behalf of almost 70 local authorities across England. Our scale means we can achieve more for our local authority partners and the vulnerable people we strive for.

Commissioning Alliance is owned by its members. As we have grown from the 7 West London boroughs of the West London Alliance to working on behalf of almost 70 local authorities across England, our purpose remains the same: to work collaboratively so that we can collectively achieve more for vulnerable people. Products and solutions created BY local authorities, FOR local authorities, with a flexible approach that allows members to choose the service or combination of services that most benefit their specific needs. We all know the systemic struggles in social care because we face them every day - spiralling costs, fragmentation and duplication of effort, inefficient information collection and sharing, and insufficiency all get in the way of achieving the best possible outcomes for vulnerable people. Only by working together in partnership can we begin to turn the tide.

Steven Runyeard below talks about his involvement in the development of the Setting the Standard Housing Management System in partnership with Commissioning Alliance. You can find out more about this Case Study and others here: https://lnkd.in/eN3PtEZF "Crafting the UI and making the system a delight to use was what I particularly relished about the StS project. We designed it using a strategic engagement model that involved Local Authorities and Providers right from the start. But the real magic was the weekly demo and feedback sessions — they got everyone engaging with the system from the start. It’s often hard to get people to engage with a new system and move away from their ways of working but having everyone involved in the design made the system feel more like it was theirs rather than something they were given to use. What made the project more enjoyable to work on was the truly agile approach. Working with the Rapid low-code tool meant the system could be tweaked in real time during the demo meetings and potential users could have their feedback implemented immediately. Building the system in this way gave true user engagement. The highlight for me was witnessing the genuine excitement from potential users during the UI design phase. Their enthusiasm was infectious and fueled our team’s drive. By prioritizing user experience, we fine-tuned the system to fit their needs. Crafting this user-friendly system wasn’t just a task; it was a joyous journey, blending creativity with satisfaction." 🎉🎉🎉
