🌱 Navigating autism & ADHD: Anna’s story of support and growth in the workplace 🌱 At age 53, Anna Kostka, an occupational therapist working in adult social care, was diagnosed with autism. She now identifies as AuDHD, experiencing both autism and ADHD. Anna shared how her journey has been filled with challenges, but with the right support, she’s thriving in her role. A key part of her success has been her workplace adjustments. "Working from home during Covid made a huge difference for me, but it’s also important to remain connected with your team," she says. In addition to remote working, Anna utilises various adjustments, including: 💡 Wearing a visor to block light 🎧 Noise-cancelling headphones 🕶️ Tinted glasses to reduce glare 🤝 And receiving support through the Access to Work scheme, including dictation software and a strategy coach. Despite challenges, Anna feels valued by her team, and says: "I know I am a valued member of the team, and I’m not as worried about being fired anymore." Her story reminds us that with understanding and proper support, neurodivergent individuals can flourish in the workplace and beyond. #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek #Neurodiversity #Inclusion #SupportAtWork #AutismAwareness #ADHDAwareness #MentalHealthInTheWorkplace
About us
We are one of London’s largest, most diverse boroughs, home to approximately 350,000 residents who strongly identify with our seven towns of Acton, Ealing, Greenford, Hanwell, Northolt, Perivale and Southall. Ealing is thriving. We are home to iconic film studios, international food production companies and home to part of Park Royal, the largest industrial estate in Europe. Located between the West End and Heathrow, the opportunities for our residents and businesses are exceptional and we have a renewed ambition to help generate jobs and improve lives. We are a council that wants to break with traditional service delivery and listen more closely to what residents really want from us, placing resident engagement at the heart of everything we do. Working with a new administration and newly appointed Chief Executive, we have renewed ambition to help generate jobs and improve lives. Our Council Plan sets out the vision and the following three key priorities for the borough: • Creating good jobs – returning good well-paid jobs to our borough and delivering the next generation of genuinely affordable homes • Tackling the climate crisis – cleaning our air and ensuring the borough we build is sustainable • Fighting inequality – that blights too many lives and disproportionately holds back all too many people from achieving their dreams and aspirations. Six more school streets were added to the borough of Ealing today. This brings the total to 41 schools benefitting from a School Street, as we move closer to our goal of all suitable schools having a school street by 2026. School Streets is a London-wide initiative restricting motor traffic on targeted roads near schools at the start and end of a school day. There are approximately 700 School Streets across London. Like other initiatives that safeguard children’s wellbeing such as The Daily Mile and Smartphone Free Childhood, being part of School Streets is a progressive and positive movement promoting healthy lifestyles. 👀 See who's in: https://lnkd.in/ehFSM2fM 👇Scroll the images to find out more #SchoolStreets #HealthyLifeStyles

Yesterday we were delighted to host a roundtable with Ealing Council (London Borough of Ealing) to discuss growth in the borough’s already vibrant creative sector. Leader of Ealing, Cllr Peter Mason affirmed his commitment to the sector and its huge potential to drive economic growth, and discussions focused on promoting Ealing as a creative hub, managing land values and developing a joined-up approach to training to provide the skills the sector needs. A huge thank you to Cllr Mason and Cllr Shital Manro for joining us, to Gemma Gallant for chairing, and to all the attendees for contributing to such a fascinating discussion.
