👉 The August 2024 riots across Britain remind us just how crucial it is to equip #youngpeople with the ability to navigate #misinformation, #extremism, and #socialunrest. 🧠 At ConnectFutures, we are committed to empowering #youth through #medialiteracy and active #citizenship, helping them understand the complexities of today’s digital and #political landscape. (Learn more about our RIOTS, PROTESTS AND PEACE: YOUTH workshop: https://lnkd.in/epqcpbK7 ) 👉 Our latest blog by Prof Lynn Davies and Savannah Hanson explores the urgent need for youth to be able to critically assess the world around them—particularly in times of unrest. 🔗 Read more on our latest blog here "EMPOWERING YOUNG PEOPLE: RIOTS, ALGORITHMIC EXTREMISM, PROTEST AND TRUTH.": https://bit.ly/3AJjcNG #socialmedia #riots #youth #algorithmicextremism #youngpeople #echochambers Please like and share: Pia van Antwerpen Tina Wilchen Christensen Sarah Buxton Tina Squire, PCC, ACCG Laura Alejandra López Pineda Jessica Mancinelli Michael Myford Anne Double Heather Partington

➡ Healthy relationships are key to building a supportive and inclusive society. When #youngpeople learn what healthy connections look like, they’re better equipped to navigate gender dynamics and avoid harmful behaviours, fostering respect and trust in all areas of life. ➡ With #harmfulideologies like #incel culture present#online and offline, it’s critical to teach young people how to challenge these narratives. Recognising and rejecting toxic behaviour helps them build resilience, improving both their personal relationships and the culture around them. ✅ By guiding young people to create #respectfulconnections, we help them shape safer, more inclusive communities. 🔗 Click here to learn more about our workshop on HEALTHY AND RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS: https://lnkd.in/ewFkBuYY Kirsty Beeston Abbee McLatchie Alison Romaine Richard Graham Nadia Alomar Samia Akram Mary Vincent Matthew Knights Ben Ireson Jeremy Lyons, MEng. ❓ So, what are your thoughts? ➡ With the August riots showing how online #echochambers can fuel real-world violence, addressing this issue has never been more urgent. Social media algorithms often trap young people in cycles that reinforce their existing beliefs, isolating them from diverse perspectives and critical discussions. This deepens divisions and makes it harder to challenge misinformation. ✅ In our latest blog, "Empowering Young People: Riots, Algorithmic Extremism, Protest and Truth," Savannah H. explains why simply teaching young people to “spot #fakenews” isn’t enough. We need to equip them with #criticalthinking skills, empathy, and the ability to question narratives, helping them break out of digital bubbles and engage meaningfully with the world. ❗ Make sure to give it a read ❗ 🔗 Click here to read on our website: https://bit.ly/3AJjcNG #socialmedia #riots #youth #algorithmicextremism #youngpeople #echochambers Hana Ehab Heather Partington Anne Double Sabine Terlecki Connor Belle Amy Hill MIchelle Edwards Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership Mabel Babasola Sarah Bryson Meadhbh (Maeve) Park
