We are currently on site in Welwyn Garden City for Willmott Dixon erecting the atrium timber roof for the Hertfordshire Constabulary HQ. The glulam diagrid roof is now complete with a CLT deck now being installed to finish off the timber structure. We can't wait to see this project once completed! Sometimes it's good to look back at previous success! The Hostry and Refectory at Norwich Cathedral opened in 2009 and won numerous awards including RIBA National and the Wood Awards. We were honoured to be selected to deliver the oak glulam frame to what is an iconic and historic site. If you are in the area, it is definitely worth a visit!

Oak glulam is one of our favourite species to work with! Currently we are manufacturing a intricate structural frame to create an amazing staircase for a high end residential project in Cambridge. The individual components have been machined on our Hundegger CNC machine before being finished and checked by our team of joiners prior to assembly on site. We've got some great images to share from Liverpool University as we near completion of the timber roof structure for the new School of Architecture. All the trusses and roof joists are now installed with only a 27mm 3 ply spruce board to close out the roof. It's great to see the months of design, planning and logistics all come together! We are currently on site in Hertfordshire erecting the Glulam & CLT roof for the new Hertfordshire Police Headquarters. This is a project we have been involved in for 4 years, so to finally see it on site is great to see. The open plan atrium features a series of 17m long primary glulam rafters with secondary members between forming a grid shell roof which is then closed off with a CLT deck. Works are progressing nicely at Liverpool University where we are installing the engineered timber roof to the new School of Architecture for ULCCO (Special Projects) Limited. The roof consists of 8 long span glulam trusses fully fabricated in our workshop, glulam joists and 3 ply CLT boards forming a complex and unique structure. There's nothing better than the smell of a fresh Green Oak delivery landing in our shop! 🤗 We are busy on a huge Glulam & CLT project at the moment... But these blanks are waiting in the wings the second we have capacity on our Hundegger CNC machine. Detailed by Andy Fletcher at Pinnacle Draughting Limited, this Oak feature frame will turn these lovely blanks into a thing of beauty before their delivery to site in March... Great to see progress being made on site in Liverpool!

Sometimes you need a joiner's eye! Nowadays almost all our projects are CNC machined, but every now and then even our Hundegger reaches it's limit. Currently in the workshop we have some 21m glulam beams for the Hertfordshire Constabulary project for Willmott Dixon being machined by our expert joiners. All the beams under 15m in length will be machined on our Hundegger CNC machine, but sometimes a pencil, a tape measure, a drawing and a saw are still required! #Glulam #TimberEngineering #Joinery

It was fantastic to see the install of the 35m spanning glulam trusses over at the University of Liverpool School of Architecture today. These vierendeel trusses are certainly going to add to the studio spaces below and create a really great space for students to learn and study. As ever, top marks to O'Donnell + Tuomey for the vision and attention to detail of their design and Constructional Timber (Manufacturers) Ltd for the great job in manufacturing and erecting of these trusses.
