Coppett Hill is a technology-enabled advisor to investor-backed businesses, helping them to accelerate customer acquisition and make strategic decisions. We combine our senior team’s experience as both operators and investors with proprietary technology to find insights and inspire change for our clients. We are privileged to work with some of the UK’s most exciting and impressive companies across a range of B2B and B2C industry sectors. We help Management teams and investors answer questions such as: - Which customers should we target? - How should we best generate leads/conversions from our target customers? - How effective is our current approach to marketing and sales? - Have we got the right approach to marketing attribution?   • Does AI mean the end of Search Marketing? We aren’t quite at this stage yet, and today we are launching the new Coppett Hill Growth Advisory AI Index, which will track the intersection of generative AI and search marketing every month. There are two primary ways generative AI is currently reshaping search and search marketing, which are tracked by our new AI Index: 1. LLMs taking traffic from search engines as users change their online research behaviour. 2. Search engines’ AI overviews reducing clicks to advertiser websites through both paid and organic rankings. AI Overviews and LLMs are reshaping the search marketing landscape, but they don’t signal the end of search engines. Google’s dominance in search remains strong, and for most industries, conventional search marketing continues to yield strong results. However, given the rate of change, we expect 2025 to be a year of significant transformation.   • Private equity deal-making is all about staying one step ahead. With the proliferation of data now available online, there is a vast amount of information available to deal teams in evaluating companies before they even get their hands on any confidential, company specific materials. This can present a huge opportunity for those who know how to harness it effectively. We’ve seen web-scraping become a valuable source of advantage in the deal process. In our experience at Coppett Hill, an increasing number of private equity firms have developed in-house tools and skills in using web-scraping to inform origination activities. However, firms are often not making use of publicly available data in assessing companies during the deal process, e.g. in assessing search marketing headroom, the competitive landscape, and customer sentiment.
