Coventry (BID). Working with our levy payers to make our City Centre a great place to live, work and play. #CovBID
About us
The aim of the BID is to promote, develop and boost the city centre to make it a great place to work and visit. Projects are varied and fall under the categories – security and environment, enhancing and promoting, and business voice and support, which were identified by the businesses in the city centre as their key priorities. To ensure the BID is delivering results for its contributors it is overseen by the BID board of Directors and a vote takes place every five years to decide whether the scheme should continue. Each business has one vote and in order for the scheme to be renewed there must be a clear majority by both the number of votes received and the total aggregate rateable value of the votes. After a successful revote in 2018 Coventry BID is now starting it's forth term and will be extremely proactive in ‘Driving the future’ of Coventry city centre. The BID team will be working tirelessly to make sure that it provides an exceptional service for all the companies it represents.

The Belgrade Theatre has just released a short film: Turn and Draw, which was filmed in and around Coventry Cathedral. The film includes a short scene from their upcoming theatrical production of Romeo and Juliet which will run at the Belgrade from Fri 21 Feb to Sat 8 Mar 2025 and is on sale now. This new production shines with new original music. Think everyday English as well as the Elizabethan variety. And the poetry of rap rhythms as well as perfect pentameters. It's a Shakespearean lyrical love story – for people who love the music of the spoken word of every generation. Whether you’re a Shakespeare devotee or brand new to the work, this will be an unmissable show that is expected to pull audiences into Coventry from far and wide. Please take a moment to watch the short film and please do share with your own networks if you’re able to!

We are pleased to share that a recent criminal case in Coventry city centre has been successfully resolved, reflecting our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our community. Martin Baker, a known individual with a history of shoplifting in the area, has been arrested and charged in connection with a recent burglary. In addition to this charge, Baker was found to be in breach of a previously issued Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). Following his court appearance at Coventry Magistrates' Court, he was sentenced to a total of 18 weeks in prison for the burglary and 8 weeks for breaching his CBO, with the sentences set to run concurrently. The swift action taken by law enforcement and the subsequent court proceedings underscore the continued focus on tackling criminal activity in Coventry. This case serves as a reminder that criminal behavior will be met with serious consequences. This outcome highlights the effective collaboration between local authorities and the business community in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all.
