  • Save for date for #belfastbookfestival 2025 🥳 🥳 🥳 📚 This year’s Festival will run 5-12 June. The full programme will be launched in April 👏 and for the 15th edition you are in for a treat with a promising programme of poetry, contemporary fiction, crime writing, the art of journalism, words on film and a striking and a memorable exhibition in The Crescent’s Cafe space 📚📚 After a sold-out preview event last night (Tuesday 11 March) that saw Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody discuss his debut book with author and Book Festival patron Lucy Caldwell, it’s left us all craving more bookish events 🤩 📚 We can't wait to see you in June 🥰

  • On International Women's Day, Crescent Arts Centre CEO Sophie Hayles has been reflecting on our foundation 🌙 "Over 150 years ago, pioneer Margaret Byers founded the building that is now The Crescent Arts Centre. Margaret enabled a school for girls, at a time when there was little formal education for young women. Her legacy of learning and entrepreneurship lives on – in the school she founded – Victoria College Belfast a mile down the road - and in the creative ambition of The Crescent Arts Centre ⭐️   We’ve got two blue plaques on our facade. One honours Margaret, and the second celebrates dance artist and Holocaust survivor Helen Lewis who made Belfast her home 🥰 The building has continued to be shaped by incredible women. We’d like to acknowledge the networks of creative talent at work daily in the building, our Board and our staff team." 🥰

  • 📕 📙 📚 Happy #WorldBookDay 🥳 📚 📘 📗 Each June, The Crescent celebrates authors, illustrators, books, and the joy of reading at our annual #BelfastBookFestival. Today, we take a look back at one of our favourite days from Festival 2024: Children’s Day 🤩  We had the pleasure of welcoming some amazing children’s authors and illustrators who joined us for our children’s-focused day. We were so lucky to hear the likes of Martin Waddell, Jacqueline Wilson, Colleen Larmour, Ashling Lindsay and PAUL HOWARD read from their books. For Team Crescent, seeing the joy on the faces of folks (both young and old) at these events is just one of the reasons we celebrate voices during the Festival. We can't wait to share our plans for this year’s Festival in April 2025 with you 🥰 Save the date: 5 - 12 June 2025 | BelfastBookFestival.com

  • A highlight for The Crescent each March, is seeing the transformation of The Cube as we get ready to welcome the youngest of audience members to the building for Young at Art Belfast Children’s Festival 2025. For 2 weeks, we’ll be hosting two amazing shows: 🌙 8 - 9 March: Moonlight Dream is the premiere of new work by Belfast-based Maiden Voyage Dance. The show, perfect for those aged 0 - 3, is the gentle journey into sleep, the sweet end of the day, and the magical world of dreams. The performance is a sensory-rich experience that will immerse audiences to the moon and beyond. Unfortunately this show already sold out. 🎶 15 March: Murmur is an immersive sound theatre experience by the Belgium company Grensgeval. With murmuring backpacks and a landscape of scattered tiny speakers, come see a flying acrobatic composer as he jumps, falls, rolls, and flies in his quiet to create a world full of sounds. For children aged 4+. For more details about both shows —> bit.ly/TCBCF25
