🗽 New York Climate Week is starting in just 1 month and we’re thrilled to be a part of it! Our team will be there from September 23rd to 27th to discuss your net zero targets with you. Let’s connect to drive climate action together! Reach out if you’d like to schedule a meeting or collaborate with us: https://lnkd.in/e7hyrMT8
About us
Even if we do everything else right on reducing emissions, the world still needs to remove up to 220 Gigatonnes of carbon from the atmosphere by 2050. You can’t reach net zero without removals. That’s where we come in. CUR8 is dedicated to building the global market for carbon removals. We’re not a marketplace. We work with the best nature and technology partners to build removals portfolios of the highest quality, and help get us on the exponential to reach 10 billion tonnes per year of removals by 2050.

🎉 We’re proud to announce that Swarnali Mitra, Carbon Finance Director at CUR8, has been named a finalist for Carbon Markets Professional of the Year at the Women in Green Business Awards! Her work on CUR8's First-of-a-Kind (FOAK) financing solution developed in partnership with British Airways, Standard Chartered Bank, and UNDO addresses a critical challenge faced by the nascent carbon removals industry: the difficulty for carbon removal companies to transition from early-stage funding sources, such as venture capital and grants, to commercial debt and longer-term financing provided by banks. Congratulations Swarnali!👏

We're thrilled to be drawing on Tom Attree's deep finance and sustainability expertise as CUR8 responds to the growing demand for carbon removals within the built environment sector. 🏗 CUR8 has expertise supporting sustainability and business leaders to purchase removals with confidence both at the organisational and building asset level. We are proud to work with some of the sectors most ambitious organisations working to transition to a net zero carbon built environment as soon as possible. Please do get in touch if you'd like to discuss this further with Tom or our team of carbon removal experts!
After some much needed time off, I am excited to be working with CUR8 on accelerating carbon removals in real estate. The real estate sector and people are well underway on operational and embodied decarbonisation with actions, risks and financing well understood despite the challenges (data anyone?). Removing the residual carbon is of course the final piece that is critical to a net zero strategy. Great to be working with the talented and dedicated CUR8 team (Cameron Scott, Dominique Airey, Marta Krupinska) to demystify carbon removals for forward-thinking real estate stakeholders. Do drop me a line if this is interesting and you want to know more

📰 'By creating portfolios of projects, companies can invest in a wider range of projects, spreading risk and avoiding just a few types of technologies. It also allows companies to work to a specific budget.' In conversation with Yusuf Khan at The Wall Street Journal, our CEO Marta Krupinska shows how companies large and small can - and should - start following in the footsteps of Microsoft to de-risk their net zero future. Great to see shoutouts to our partners at British Airways, Coca-Cola HBC and Standard Chartered 🔥
📰 This is huge - carbon removal is NOT niche anymore, from multibillion dollar investments to big pieces in the The Wall Street Journal! It was great to sit down with Yusuf Khan and tell him about our work at CUR8. From extensive due diligence to broad portfolios of carbon removal projects, we discussed that companies can work to a specific budget and spread their risk across multiple types of technology rather than relying on a single one. We also touched on how Microsoft is leading the way by investing heavily in carbon removals, with other giants like Google, Amazon and Meta following suit. The upwards trend is also plain to see in #aviation – a sector that has a notoriously tricky path to net zero. Our landmark deal with British Airways, UNDO and Standard Chartered is clear proof of this, but also a brilliant demonstration of how the forward-financing model we’ve pioneered connects big companies with carbon removals projects they can trust. The panel highlighted the increasing recognition among airlines and governing bodies for carbon removals. They discussed the Oxford Principles for Net Zero Carbon Aligned Offsetting, the moral obligation towards permanent carbon removals, and the crucial role of compliance markets. The conversation also posed challenging questions for CFOs about what might happen if they don't act now and stressed the importance of credibility within the sector. 👉 Learn how government policies and robust accounting mechanisms can jump-start this revolution: watch the full panel to learn more and position your company as a leader in carbon removals! https://lnkd.in/eyVHCATA
