Supporting the science and nature based CDR community through events and research.

It was fantastic to interview Gabrielle Walker earlier this year and learn about the vital work she and the teams at CUR8 and Rethinking Removals are doing in the #carbondioxideremoval space. She and Dominique Airey have an incredibly refreshing way of looking at the buying side of the CDR space: "Most people say it's demand-constrained; we say it's demand-suppressed. In other words, there is a lot of demand out there, but it’s not being realised at the moment. Everyone who's set a #netzero target is beginning to understand that at least 10% of it will have to involve removals, and they will have to build up to that. But so far, few of them are acting. What's interesting to me is what's suppressing that demand. So, it's not how you generate the demand but how you remove the blockers." Thanks for your time, Gabrielle; I definitely came away from this feeling more positive about the future of CDR!

🌿 Carbon removal is becoming an increasingly important tool for cities and counties to reach their ambitious climate goals. 📈 In this article, our Impact Director, Christopher Neidl, emphasises the importance of measuring and verifying carbon removal, stating “If you can’t measure it, it didn’t happen”. He also calls for the explicit incorporation of carbon removals into the net-zero plans of local governments and the importance of considering environmental justice requirements in related policies. 🤝 Check out the article below to learn more and hear about inspiring examples of local carbon removal initiatives, such as the 4Corners Carbon Removal Coalition’s concrete projects and the Community Alliance for Direct Air Capture in California. 🏙️ #CarbonRemoval #ClimateAction #SustainableCities https://lnkd.in/e7uX3bqp
