    We recently attended Karren Brady's Women in Business & Tech Expo, where we met and chatted to scores of people about careers in tech at Currys. Our Head of Delivery, Di Spindley gave a talk on the first day, so we caught up with her to hear about how it went: “As I reflect on the Expo, I'm feeling inspired, grateful, and energised. It was a privilege to talk to so many women about the breadth of career opportunities available within Technology at Currys and to share insights into the incredibly ambitious Transformation journey we have embarked on. To share the growth of our ERGs – particularly the Women in Tech and Women’s Network –was incredibly special and I feel proud to work for a company that's truly committed to being a more diverse, inclusive and equitable place to work.     We're now halfway through #BlackHistoryMonth, and with support from the wider business, our Embrace network and colleagues have been busy organising a variety of events both on- and off-line, celebrating Black history and Black tech pioneers. We spoke to Kim Adamson, our Recruitment Specialist for Corporate Functions and Embrace committee member, about being in the network and our Black History Month events: ✨ How has being part of the group impacted your experience at Currys? "It has heightened my sense of belonging and I feel more connected with colleagues from across the business. As a member of the committee, it’s been great to share ideas on how we can be even more inclusive and support in organising events for our members to bring colleagues together." ✨ What are some upcoming events or initiatives Embrace are planning or have planned for this month? That means helping customers discover and choose the right technology online and in-store, then helping them afford it, and ultimately get the most out of it, for life, through our Services.   Our credit proposition forms an important part of this vision, enabling customers to spread the cost of their tech at the point of need. And this week, we’re proud to unveil Currys flexpay – a credit product that offers customers more flexibility than ever.     October 14th is #eWasteDay, an initiative which focuses on retrieving, recycling, and reviving your forgotten or broken devices. As seen in our recent campaign with World's Strongest Man Eddie Hall, colleagues are always happy to talk about what to do with unwanted or defunct tech. Even if it wasn't bought from Currys in the first place. 💪 In 2023/24 alone, our team... ♻️ Helped collect 8.1 million units of e-waste for reuse or recycling. 🧑🔧 Made 1.4 million repairs to keep tech working. ⚙️ Supported 12 million active care services and insurance plans. 🧑💻 And with 1,168 devices delivered to families through Tech4Families, many of which are repaired and repurposed, they’re ensuring technology is accessible to everyone. So when it comes to dealing with old tech trash, by helping our customers responsibly recycle (or trade-in) their e-waste, our team members play a crucial role in creating a more sustainable and circular economy. 🌍 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eis4dS3h #Sustainability #CircularEconomy

    The most wonderful time of the year (also known as our annual Peak event) took place this week! On Wednesday and Thursday, we welcomed along our tech suppliers, from SharkNinja and HP to Dyson, with colleagues able to attend talks and product demos to keep them fully up to date ahead of Black Friday and the rest of the festive period. Alongside the latest tech, colleagues could meet some of the People team, pictured at the Currys Careers stand, and learn more about growth and development opportunities within the business, as well as the perks and benefits we offer. Colleagues also got the opportunity to connect with representatives from all our ERGs: Embrace, Pride at Currys, Disability at Currys, and the Women's network - swipe to see some of them at our Careers stand. It was all rounded off by the annual Amazing People Awards, celebrating our best of the best.     We know that around 10% of the British population – that's over six million people – are dyslexic. We want all candidates to perform their best at interview and we also recognise that the traditional interview process sometimes isn't inclusive enough. For anyone with dyslexia applying for a job at Currys, our friendly Talent Acquisition team (pictured) are happy to make any reasonable adjustments to smooth the process. This could include: ➡️ Giving out questions in advance so that people with dyslexia (or any neurodiverse conditions) can have more time to think and prepare their answers ➡️ Giving more time during assessments ➡️ Reading any written tasks out during assessments ➡️ Putting information on a screen instead of giving verbally ➡️ Simplifying questions or breaking them down ➡️ Screen adjustments like changing colours to support with reading Asking for adjustments will absolutely not impede your application and we're all ears from our very first conversation with candidates, before interview stage.
