About us
Who are we? Decade Three Associates is a collective of architectural and construction professionals who specialise in all aspects of the design process - from planning to handover. We focus on cost reduction and value engineering particularly for home renovators or property developers & housebuilders. With over 25 years experience in working for both large and bespoke ‘one off’ builders, we evaluate site layout, building materials, construction methods and interior design to help deliver real savings - a few pounds saved here and there can add up to a significant amount. Whether you are a homeowner looking to renovate, or an established house builder, the principles we use to reduce cost are exactly the same. What do we do? In a nutshell; everything! We have a vast range of experience including; high end European residential developments, one off residential ‘grand designs’ projects, home alterations and refurbs, 1200 unit plus residential schemes, high rise tower blocks, basements, garage conversions, multi story car parks and retail design. How do we do it? We believe that the key to any successful architectural design lies in the detail. How a space flows is influenced directly by the smallest elements within it. Whether its a thirty storey tower block or rearranging a living room, its only by evaluating the details that you end up with a design that works, regardless of size. The same is true with cost evaluation, its a forensic process. Can a foundation design be reduced? Can one product be replaced with another? Are there alternative ways of meeting regulations? Does that room need six spotlights when four will do? Add all these elements up and you've got some serious figures. Who do we work with? Large and small scale builders, where either volume or architectural merit is of importance. Homeowners looking to extend or build a loft conversion, re-plan a new kitchen or bathroom. Since Paul joined us back in Feb we’ve taken huge steps in the right direction. Paul’s skill at sketching a site / building to increase efficiency and cost savings is second to none. Our work in progress for a large renovation and extension project in Cambs is almost complete. In the next few weeks, we will be sending the tender packages out and start interviewing contractors on site. Just because something looks great, doesn't mean it has to cost a fortune. This garage to office conversion we did looks cracking, but used laminates that are commonly available in both worktop format and kitchen cupboards. Nothing was bespoke, it was all just from joinery and kitchen websites! The louvres are just pre-laminated sections of MDF with LED's routered in. Saving money doesn't mean you have to end up with white painted plasterboard - it's about being as creative as you can within your budget.
