We would like to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate the incredible women within our community ahead of International Women’s day tomorrow. According to the latest UK statistics, women make up 31% of architects, significantly lower than the 51% female population in the UK. This aligns with the global average of approximately 30% women in Architecture. A closer look at the industry reveals: • In 2021, nearly 50% of newly registered architects were women. • Women remain underrepresented in senior roles, accounting for just 26% of senior architects. • On average, women in UK architecture earn 16% less than their male counterparts. At DMWR, we are committed to driving meaningful change. Women represent 44% of our management team and 50% of our overall staff, of whom we are very proud, across our #Manchester and #London offices. We take pride in recognising and addressing workplace challenges that women may face and in support we offer a wide variety of company policies. #InternationalWomensDay #WomenInProperty #WomenInArchitecture #GivingThanks #internationalwomensday #womeninarchitecture #DMWRArchitects #CHQGroup #JackieSpinks #AlexandraErlich #DeryaBostan #LauraWatson #MariaTsangada #MargheritaBastianelli #DeborahLee #CristinaPavan #TendyStFrancis

This morning we're very proud of, and give thanks to our brave colleagues who slept out in the cold last night, raising money to help bring 16-24 year olds out of homelessness. DMWR staff as part of the CHQ group wrapped up in 1 degree temperatures in both #Manchester and #Cambridge so #youngpeople don't have to. They joined the thousands of people from across the #property industry sleeping out across the UK to support LandAid in their mission to #endyouthhomelessness. A huge thank you to everyone who has kindly donated to this important cause. If you’d still like to donate, please see: https://lnkd.in/ekBuahHB #ESG #homelessness #givingback #SocialValue #SocialImpact #SupportiveLiving #SleepOut Maria Tsangada, Tendy St Francis, Callum Wilson, Gary Wolstenholme, Jack Cottrell, Gemma Copp, CHQ Architects Ltd (Social), Barry Harper-Smith

DMWR as part of the CHQ Group, recognise the critical role the property industry can play in addressing homelessness. With a team of 65 staff members and a developing #ESG strategy, we are committed to driving positive #SocialImpact. Supporting charities and providing homes is central to our work, which is why we have been proudly supporting LandAid for the past year. This is our first time participating in this sleep out event, to raise awareness and funds to help end youth homelessness. As a national company, we'll be taking part in two locations! Gary Wolstenholme, Gemma Copp and Jack Cottrell in #Manchester whilst Tendy St Francis and Maria Tsangada will be taking part in #Cambridge. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. Please see: https://lnkd.in/ekBuahHB Many face unsafe living conditions, precarious housing, or are forced into temporary accommodation. On Thursday 27th February, colleagues from our Manchester and Baldock offices are taking part in the LandAid #SleepOut to raise money to help support young people who are experiencing, or at risk of facing #homelessness. In 2023, just short of 136,000 16-24 year olds approached their local councils across the UK to request support and register themselves as homeless. LandAid brings the #PropertyIndustry together to support charities delivering life-changing services for these #YoungPeople in need. Your donation will help bring them in from the cold this winter and through support workers, give the independent living skills to start their career journeys. As Architects, we are designing and developing new homes each and every day. We hope for a positive and more inclusive built environment where we can #EndYouthHomelessness. We’re excited to have one of our Associate Directors, Gary Wolstenholme, represent DMWR at Material’s first roundtable of the year in Manchester. This thought-provoking discussion, centred on “Is technology aiding sustainability in design?”, is perfectly aligned with Gary’s passion for integrating AI into our design processes to achieve more sustainable outcomes. As a key member of our ESG team, Gary is dedicated to exploring innovative technologies that align with our commitment to creating a sustainable built environment. We look forward to hearing his insights on how AI can help shape the future of sustainable design. Thank you to Material for organizing this important and timely conversation! #AIInDesign #SustainableDesign #SustainableArchitecture #AIDrivenInnovation #TechnologyInArchitecture #RoundtableDiscussion #ManchesterEvents #ArchitectureLeadership #ESGGoals
Is technology aiding sustainability in design? This is the question we'll pose to six senior professionals specialising in architecture, design and sustainability at our Manchester Studio's first roundtable of the year on Wednesday. As the industry embraces new technologies, there is a growing need to ensure that these innovations align with sustainable practice. With this in mind, we'll explore the associated opportunities and challenges in helping forge the built environment's future. Andreea Dragos, architect, Stride Treglown; Peter Bartley, head of sustainability, AEW Architects; Andrew Morris, senior architect, JB+CO; Gary Wolstenholme, associate director, DMWR Architects Ltd; Sarah Dabbs, associate director, SpaceInvader; & Jack Poulton, project architect, SimpsonHaugh - we look forward to welcoming you then. The key insights that emerge from the conversation will be shared over at Material Source Online later in the week, so keep an eye out for that. Many thanks to our supporters for this event, Autex Acoustics UK & EU & Milliken Floors - both partners at Material Source Studio. And if you're an architect, designer, or property professional keen to have your say, why not join us for one of our upcoming roundtables? Its #WorldHomelessnessDay, where we are reminded of the critical role architecture plays in shaping communities and addressing one of society's most pressing challenges - homelessness. At DMWR Architects Ltd, we believe in creating environments that offer security, hope and inclusivity, giving opportunity for everyone, including those most in need. We aim to work closely with our key stakeholders to help create more affordable, accessible and community-driven housing solutions. Today, and every day, we stand by our ESG commitment to create a better, more equitable world. One of the ways we do so, is giving support to charities such as LandAid, with Ambassadors Gemma Copp and Rodica Earmacov in our Manchester office. Last year 136,000 young people in the UK approached their council for housing support. On this day, we thought we'd share four key facts of what it's like to be a 16-24 year old facing, or at risk of facing homelessness. #WorldHomelessnessDay #ESGArchitecture #SustainableDesign #SocialImpact #AffordableHousing #InclusiveCommunities #ResponsibleArchitecture #ArchitectureForImpact #BuildingHope #DesigningWithPurpose #AffordableHousing #InclusiveCommunities #ESG Aart Koning | Gary Wolstenholme | Ben McKenna | Tendy St Francis | Adam Blacker | Barry Harper-Smith | CHQ Architects Ltd

Our Manchester office attended the North West LandAid Gala dinner last Thursday evening; an event bringing together 305 property industry professionals together to help raise funds for youth homelessness in 16-24 year olds. A massive thanks to all our guests who joined the evening with us and to the NW LandAid board for hosting such a fantastic and successful event. Tearing up when I say… Last night’s LandAid Gala Dinner raised a whopping… £47, 771 which is a massive 43% uplift from last year! A huge thanks to all who came and keeping the lively spirits of the night going through to the early hours of the morning. We sold all 6 donated prizes on the silent auction, sourced by the NW LandAid board plus just short of a further £5k from on-night donations. I’m so proud of everyone involved who helped to make this event happen, including the NW LandAid board chaired by Nathan Cornish, Katie Stephenson, Shelbie Walker, Sally Fraser, Paul Morrish at LandAid and to all those purchased a table and donated to this important charity. Special thanks to sponsors MCR Property Group, SIP Car Parks Ltd, VINCI Building UK and A E Yates Ltd. As you know, the number of those facing or at risk of facing youth homelessness is increasing each year. Last year the figure reached 136,000 16-24 year olds who approached their local council for housing support. Welfare reforms and the cost of living crisis have increasingly taken away young peoples options, with many now trapped in the homelessness cycle, moving from sofa to sofa. The money raised last night will go towards the design and construct of new move-on homes where young people are given a space to call their own- a home with access to support works to help give them the independent living skills to stay in education or employment. One such project was the 6x modular homes in Salford that I shared a news article about a couple weeks ago- this started on site Monday gone! A massive thanks to LandAid for allowing me to be a part of your table, thanks to my company DMWR Architects Ltd as part of the CHQ Group for purchasing a table, and to our guests who came to enjoy the fantastic evening with Gary Wolstenholme, Cristina Pavan and Jackie Spinks; Lichfields UK, McGoff Group, Thomasons UK, Winvic Construction Ltd, CBRE UK, Sainsbury's, iQ Student Accommodation. Thanks to Manchester Brick Specialists who donated one of the auction prizes, and thanks to band Mr Wilson’s Second Liners and DJ for your fantastic entertainment and getting many up on the dance floor! Its giving homes. Very demure.
