We would like to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate the incredible women within our community ahead of International Women’s day tomorrow. According to the latest UK statistics, women make up 31% of architects, significantly lower than the 51% female population in the UK. This aligns with the global average of approximately 30% women in Architecture. A closer look at the industry reveals: • In 2021, nearly 50% of newly registered architects were women. • Women remain underrepresented in senior roles, accounting for just 26% of senior architects. • On average, women in UK architecture earn 16% less than their male counterparts. At DMWR, we are committed to driving meaningful change. Women represent 44% of our management team and 50% of our overall staff, of whom we are very proud, across our #Manchester and #London offices. This morning we're very proud of, and give thanks to our brave colleagues who slept out in the cold last night, raising money to help bring 16-24 year olds out of homelessness. DMWR staff as part of the CHQ group wrapped up in 1 degree temperatures in both #Manchester and #Cambridge so #youngpeople don't have to. They joined the thousands of people from across the #property industry sleeping out across the UK to support LandAid in their mission to #endyouthhomelessness. Our Sleep Out Team has grown with Jack Cottrell now taking part with Gary Wolstenholme and Gemma Copp in #Manchester, and Callum Wilson with Maria Tsangada and Tendy St Francis in #Cambridge. They'll be sleeping outside tonight, with temperatures of 2-3 degrees, to raise money for LandAid and in aid of ending #YouthHomelessness. DMWR as part of the CHQ Group, recognise the critical role the property industry can play in addressing homelessness. With a team of 65 staff members and a developing #ESG strategy, we are committed to driving positive #SocialImpact. Supporting charities and providing homes is central to our work, which is why we have been proudly supporting LandAid for the past year. On Thursday 27th February, colleagues from our Manchester and Baldock offices are taking part in the LandAid #SleepOut to raise money to help support young people who are experiencing, or at risk of facing #homelessness. In 2023, just short of 136,000 16-24 year olds approached their local councils across the UK to request support and register themselves as homeless. LandAid brings the #PropertyIndustry together to support charities delivering life-changing services for these #YoungPeople in need. Your donation will help bring them in from the cold this winter and through support workers, give the independent living skills to start their career journeys. Project Architect Gemma Copp will be judging the MSSA WOAH: WithOut A Home student competition on 26th February at the Manchester School of Architecture (MSA). Th competition called 'Social Housing Without Limits' is a challenge to reimagine social housing as more inclusive, enjoyable, and innovative! Its #WorldHomelessnessDay, where we are reminded of the critical role architecture plays in shaping communities and addressing one of society's most pressing challenges - homelessness. At DMWR Architects Ltd, we believe in creating environments that offer security, hope and inclusivity, giving opportunity for everyone, including those most in need. We aim to work closely with our key stakeholders to help create more affordable, accessible and community-driven housing solutions. Today, and every day, we stand by our ESG commitment to create a better, more equitable world. Our Manchester office attended the North West LandAid Gala dinner last Thursday evening; an event bringing together 305 property industry professionals together to help raise funds for youth homelessness in 16-24 year olds.
