As Dorset LEP conclude their final weeks of a 3-year plan delivery, and with the help of our local authority partners, integration of LEP functions into our Council teams will take place by end March 2025. We are delighted that government have confirmed funding for the growth hub (currently branded as Dorset LEP Business) which mean that business support programmes will continue to be delivered across the county. Dorset Careers Hub also has confirmed funding, securing continued service for schools in Dorset. Please be aware that as of Thursday 20th March, the core team will be available by their new contact address: dorsetcareershub@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk We look forward to continuing to bring employers and educators together to deliver excellence in careers education and to inspire the next generation, our future workforce.  

⭐️ We had a fantastic day yesterday at the Careers and Apprenticeship Show 2025. We had lots of meaningful and engaging conversations with students, parents and carers throughout the day - thank you to everyone who attended and popped by our stand. 🤩 It was great to see so many employers and stakeholders who continue to support the work of Dorset Careers Hub and deliver opportunities for young people across the county. We are excited to continue conversations with new connections made yesterday. 👏🏼 A huge well done to the whole team at BCP Council who delivered another successful event, not forgetting students from our local special schools who helped with event preparation. We had such a great time at St Mary’s Primary for STEM Week! The Year 5 and Year 6 pupils were amazing - so engaged, creative, and full of brilliant ideas. Year 5 got hands-on with Renewable Energy, Forces, and Engineering, using junk modelling to bring their ideas to life. Year 6 became engineers, making and quality-checking their own soft fold elephants. We had some lovely feedback: “Thank you so much for coming in! #CareersExcellenceSeminar! 🎉 This morning, our Joint Hub Lead, Jan Champney, and Primary Project Lead, Clare Dunn attended the Careers Excellence Seminar, delivered by The Careers & Enterprise Company. Joined by Chris Gibson of Bovington Academy, and Alison Simpson of Kinson Academy, who have taken part in the #StartSmallDreamBig pilot, the seminar led discussions with the expert panel and Chair on the significance of starting careers education early, laying the foundations and smoothing transition between primary and the careers education system in secondary schools. 📢 We are delighted to announce that we are now taking exhibitor bookings for the Discover Your Future – Skills and Transitions Fair, an inclusive and interactive skills and careers event aimed at students in years 9-14 across BCP and Dorset, who have special educational needs and / or disabilities. 🤝 The aim is for students to go away knowing more about your industry or education setting and the skills or entry requirements you need. 💡 In the UK the employment rate of disabled people is 53%, compared to 82% of non-disabled people. This large disability employment gap is partially due to a lack of confidence amongst employers about recruiting people with disabilities. ▶️ Do you want to increase the number of high-quality applicants available and create a workforce that reflects the diverse range of customers you serve and the community in which you are based?
