⭐️ We had a fantastic day yesterday at the Careers and Apprenticeship Show 2025. We had lots of meaningful and engaging conversations with students, parents and carers throughout the day - thank you to everyone who attended and popped by our stand. 🤩 It was great to see so many employers and stakeholders who continue to support the work of Dorset Careers Hub and deliver opportunities for young people across the county. We are excited to continue conversations with new connections made yesterday. 👏🏼 A huge well done to the whole team at BCP Council who delivered another successful event, not forgetting students from our local special schools who helped with event preparation. A fantastic couple of days hosting learners from five of our local special schools who confidently took on the role of Event Preparation Assistants and made sure the Careers & Apprenticeships Show 2025 #CAS2025 got off to a flying start! They were brilliant, working as a team to problem solve, complete tasks to schedule all with great humour and precision focus. We couldn't do it with them, thank you 🙌🤩.Dorset Careers Hub Helen Lewis Catherine Beater Laura Bush Michelle Pickard Raymond Gollop Georgie P.

We had such a great time at St Mary’s Primary for STEM Week! The Year 5 and Year 6 pupils were amazing - so engaged, creative, and full of brilliant ideas. Year 5 got hands-on with Renewable Energy, Forces, and Engineering, using junk modelling to bring their ideas to life. Year 6 became engineers, making and quality-checking their own soft fold elephants. We had some lovely feedback: “Thank you so much for coming in! The children had such positive things to say - the sessions were not only educational but also really fun and engaging.” We are proud to be able to support the Start Small; Dream Big initiative in partnership with Dorset careers hub. #STEMWeek #FutureEngineers #StartSmallDreamBig #Dorset Beth FordClare DunnYasmin Brown

#CareersExcellenceSeminar! 🎉 This morning, our Joint Hub Lead, Jan Champney, and Primary Project Lead, Clare Dunn attended the Careers Excellence Seminar, delivered by The Careers & Enterprise Company. Joined by Chris Gibson of Bovington Academy, and Alison Simpson of Kinson Academy, who have taken part in the #StartSmallDreamBig pilot, the seminar led discussions with the expert panel and Chair on the significance of starting careers education early, laying the foundations and smoothing transition between primary and the careers education system in secondary schools. We were delighted to see Phoebe Gale representing Tilbury Douglas on the panel - Phoebe has supported Dorset Careers Hub with various engagement opportunities, including her role as Enterprise Adviser, and continues to be a passionate advocate, inspiring young people to fulfil their full potential. 👀 What next? 🔍 Read the latest insights from the second wave of the #StartSmallDreamBig pilot: https://lnkd.in/evwp_2nS 💻 Explore free resources and tools on The Careers & Enterprise Company Primary Platform, designed to help primary schools plan, deliver and measure career-related learning: https://lnkd.in/eRiPz-fT Dorset LEP Dorset Council UK BCP Council Helen Stevenson Yasmin Brown Janek Tarnawski Penny Charrett Catherine Beater David Wakeford Michelle Pickard Rebecca Davies Dorset Skills Suzy Wright Oli de Botton Victoria Black CMgr MCMI #Dorset #CareersEducation #FuturePathways

📢 We are delighted to announce that we are now taking exhibitor bookings for the Discover Your Future – Skills and Transitions Fair, an inclusive and interactive skills and careers event aimed at students in years 9-14 across BCP and Dorset, who have special educational needs and / or disabilities. 🤝 The aim is for students to go away knowing more about your industry or education setting and the skills or entry requirements you need. 💡 In the UK the employment rate of disabled people is 53%, compared to 82% of non-disabled people. This large disability employment gap is partially due to a lack of confidence amongst employers about recruiting people with disabilities. ▶️ Do you want to increase the number of high-quality applicants available and create a workforce that reflects the diverse range of customers you serve and the community in which you are based? The event will include: ⭐ Local employers and organisations hosting interactive activities ⭐ Information on post 16/18 options opportunities for young people to have face-to-face opportunities to interact with exhibitors It is FREE to exhibit and includes lunch and refreshments. We encourage exhibitors to bring engaging and interactive exhibition stands. 👉 Wednesday 7th May 2025, The Allendale Community Centre, Wimborne.
