London Mayor Sadiq Khan has reiterated his vision of transforming Oxford Street into the "leading retail destination in the world" by banning traffic along a 0.7-mile stretch. Initially proposed in 2017, the plan now has government support and aims to pedestrianise the street to boost footfall and spending. This initiative is part of a broader effort to rejuvenate the iconic shopping district, which has faced economic challenges in recent years due to declining retail activity. #retail #oxfordstreet #consumerspending

HOW NINJA CONQUERED THE WORLD – Mark Barrocas, ‘Samurai thinking,’ and the one-billion-dollar market. A look at the SharkNinja CEO’s all-conquering air fryer strategy. Hattori Hanzō was a famous 16th century Samurai general who helped unite Japan. Often called “the first Ninja,” Hanzo was known as an expert tactician, and a master of sword fighting. In a sword fight, then, Mark Barrocas, CEO of SharkNinja, would likely lose to Master Hanzo. Tactically, however, he’d be his match. “The global air fryer market is estimated to be valued at USD 1.07 billion in 2024 and is anticipated to reach USD 1.75 billion by 2029,” according to Market Data Forecast.          And SharkNinja’s dominance in the sector is turbocharging its financial performance. As Proactive Investors note, “The Massachusetts-based company increased sales 24.7% to $1.07 billion…Food preparation appliances led growth with an $87.20 million or 74% increase.” Ninja’s air fryers are everywhere. So, how did Barrocas create this exceptional level of performance? Talking to the Modern Retail podcast, Barrocas, himself, makes his business philosophy clear: “We take a very maniacal..... Some exciting news in the #consumer #health world this week: 1. GBUK Group a portfolio company of A&M Capital Europe (AMCE), has acquired UK-based Severn Healthcare Technologies Limited, a distributor of single-use medical devices. Severn specialises in providing next-generation single-use medical devices across the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) and Neuro-Otology clinical specialisms. The acquisition is expected to strengthen GBUK’s clinical specialist positioning while expanding its product presence in two new therapeutic areas. 2. Body care brand STENDERS has received a majority investment from LVMH-backed private equity firm L Catterton. The funds will be used to accelerate the Latvian brand’s international expansion across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the US. L Catterton’s investment follows a period of bolstered revenue growth for the beauty brand, which has risen by an estimated 20% annually over the past four years. 3. Prinova Global conducted a recent survey and found 72% of people were more likely to buy a food or beverage product if the packaging mentioned a health benefit. This rose to 87% among the ages of 18 to 24 and 80% among those aged 25 to 34, showcasing these health claims resonate more with the younger audience. 4. ACS International, Ltd. Omega have found molecules made by fish gut bacteria could have a positive effect on your skin. The compounds found had skin-brightening and anti-wrinkle properties, making them potential ingredients for your future skin care routine. 5. An innovative holistic tool has surfaced that studies our gut health at an unprecedented level. A team of Mayo Clinic researchers have developed a tool, called the Gut Microbiome Wellness Index 2, allowing us to assess our gut health. The tool will allow you to understand what constitutes a healthy microbiome and identifying early indicators of potential health issues. They advise this tool aims to be a “proactive health indicator” rather than a diagnostic tool. #consumerhealth #healthandwellness #skincare #guthealth

I DON’T DRINK, THEREFORE I AM –#SoberTok, paradigm shifts, and ‘mindful’ axe throwing. The “you-do-you” Gen Z mentality that’s powering the ‘Experience Economy.’ “I’m not anti-drinking – I just don’t like getting drunk or feeling ill the next morning,” 22-year-old Lola tells the BBC. “I like going home safely and remembering the people I met, so sober nights work well for me.” Lola goes on, “my friends think it’s cool when people go out sober…it’s a you-do-you mentality where people are respectful of your choices.” Amongst Gen Z – the demographic born between 1997-2012 (Beresford Research) – she’s far from alone. As DRINKS BUSINESS report, “around a third of people aged 18-24 do not drink alcohol at all, and even those that do drink tend to do so primarily as a treat, to relax, or to mark a special occasion.” Recent Mintel research underlines this generational transformation, “a significant number of Gen Z are shifting their focus away from drinking alcohol, both inside and outside the home, and opting instead for sober socialising.” They are also prioritising what’s being called....
