UK rental company E.J. McGovern Crane Hire has welcomed its final Liebherr mobile crane for 2024, the three-axle LTM 1060-3.1.
This year, the company has also received two other all-terrain cranes, including the three-axle LTM 1050-3.1 and the 90-tonne LTM 1090-4.2. Additionally, in February McGovern Crane Hire took delivery of Liebherr’s strongest mobile construction crane, the MK 140-5.1.
The smallest unit in the trio, the LTM 1050-3.1 is equipped with a 38-metre main boom plus a 9 to 16-metre double swingaway fly jib with 1.5-metre integrated assembly jib. With a capacity of 25 tonnes, the assembly jib can be rigged with a set of sheaves or a searcher hook, both of which can be easily installed by one person without the need to work at height.[H(1] The crane can carry all of its nine tonnes of counterweight here in the UK.
Whereas the largest stablemate, the LTM 10904-4.2 can travel with all of its 22.5 tonnes of ballast, complying with the UK’s STGO regulations. The four-axle crane boasts a seven-section 60-metre main boom.
Finally, the three-axle crane features a 48-metre telescopic boom and when a folding jib is assembled, a hoist height of 63 metres and 48 metre radius is possible. The LTM 1060-3.1 can carry all of its 12.8 tonnes of counterweight.
Additional specifications on all mobile crane units include Liebherr’s remote control for all superstructure functions and Variobase®, for increased safety when lifting.
McGovern Crane Hire’s Director, Kieran McGovern commented: “Investing in Liebherr products has been an easy choice. We take pride in providing the safest and most modern machines on the market.
Maintaining continuity in operating systems across our fleet is invaluable to us, it simplifies operator progress through the crane capacities. No matter if it’s a 50 or 250 tonne machine, the basic operations are nearly identical, meaning the minor differences are much easier to understand and learn for our operators.
Most of the investments made in 2024 are to meet our regular plant replacement strategy which sees us refresh our cranes after approximately four years of service, meaning we can confidently say we run one of the latest fleets of machines available on the market
As we continue to replace our older machines, it’s reassuring to observe the strong residual values of Liebherr products. These machines do not remain on the market for long before finding new homes, which speaks to the quality of Liebherr equipment. Our commitment to regular servicing and maintaining a 'like new' appearance also contributes to this success.”
Established in 1995, McGovern Crane Hire operates a fleet of mobile cranes from 50 to 250 tonnes, mobile tower cranes, mobile city cranes and spider cranes from its depot in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.
