A superb article by Jackie Sadek about #Harlow and its role as a flagship location for The UK Innovation Corridor. Harlow is undoubtedly one of the top destinations to invest in, in the UK, at the moment.

From wet labs, dry labs and biotech to financial and property technology, there's huge opportunity across the UK Innovation Corridor with Harlow's location placing it front and centre. The UK Innovation Corridor’s Chair, Jackie Sadek, has no doubt that #Harlow is on the edge of something exciting, calling the area a "jewel in the crown." 🔍Is the Move to Unitary Authorities a Game Changer for Local Planning? The Government’s move to replace district councils with larger unitary authorities is a major shake-up of local government. While this change is expected to streamline planning, improve efficiency, and tackle the growing backlog of applications, critics argue that it could reduce local representation and hurt smaller political parties. This concern has only grown after the Government delayed local elections in nine authorities until 2026, sparking backlash - Reform UK called it "Orwellian double talk", while the Liberal Democrats slammed it as a "disgraceful stitch-up"📢 Martin Jenic, Account Executive at ECF argues that while the shift threatens smaller parties, it will ultimately create a more effective planning system. 👉 Read his full analysis here: https://lnkd.in/ek7xJJvi

This June, we are holding an event for the London Festival of Architecture (LFA), and would like your help! 🙌 The LFA, one of the world’s largest architecture festivals, will take place in June 2025, celebrating the theme of “Voices” 🗣️. This theme aims to explore how architecture can reflect the diverse perspectives and lived experiences of Londoners 🏙️✨ The title of our event is 'Nature Reimagined'🌿🌳, and the premise is to collect feedback on the question below between now and April , before presenting our findings at the main event in June: “How can we bring nature back to London’s public spaces for everyone to enjoy?” We would greatly appreciate it if you could scan the QR code below and give your thoughts on how we can make London a greener city! 🌿🏙️ You can also give feedback through this link: https://lnkd.in/e49YkqcR All feedback will be captured anonymously, and displayed on our Voice Tree, which will be an interactive art installation shaped like a tree with each “leaf” representing a collected voice or opinion 🌳💭 More details on our event will follow shortly, but in the meantime, scan the QR code and help us populate the Voice Tree!💚

This afternoon, I attended the RECLAIM Network Plus's webinar on Child-Led Urban Greening & Environmental Monitoring of Nature-Based Solutions 🌿🌍. Charlotte Glazier CMLI, founder of UK Pocket Parks, gave an insightful presentation on child-led urban greening initiatives 🌱. Charlotte has recently launched the Green Explorers movement 🧭🌳, a child-led initiative to reclaim the public realm for greenery and enable children to explore and connect with nature in their local area 🌼🦋. At ECF, we are collaborating with Charlotte to engage with children on the ideas so far 🤝, and there are many exciting opportunities ahead in 2025 as the movement continues to grow! 🚀✨ Dr Daniel Green, Assistant Professor of Nature-based Solutions at Heriot-Watt University and Research Associate at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh 🏫🌿, presented on monitoring and experimental data for green infrastructure 📊. Dr. Green spoke about the importance of green infrastructure such as rain gardens 🌧️🌻 in managing urban flood risk, giving the example of the rain garden introduced at the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh which has prevented a repeat of the flooding in 2018. Thanks to the RECLAIM Network for hosting such a great webinar 🎉, and to Charlotte and Daniel for sharing your insights and knowledge 🙏📚.

Welcoming 2025: A Year of Opportunity As we step into 2025, the ECF team is looking forward to doing what we do best—bringing organisations, communities, and government together to create thriving places where people love to live, work, learn and play. Our focus on the built environment has us particularly curious about how the property market is shaping up this year in Australia, and it’s looking likely to be a dynamic and exciting space! What’s Hot in 2025? 🔹 Interest Rates Set to Drop – The Reserve Bank of Australia is expected to cut rates twice this year, making it a great time for first-home buyers to enter the market. 🔹 Sydney and Melbourne’s Inner-City Comeback – After a period of slow growth, urban apartment living is back in vogue! 🔹 Brisbane’s Big Year – Continued population growth and infrastructure projects are making Brisbane a magnet for property buyers. 🔹 Perth and Adelaide on the Rise – Perth’s house prices are expected to jump by 10.2%, while Adelaide remains a top choice for affordability and lifestyle. 🔹 Townsville is Booming! – With prices tipped to surge up to 30%, this northern city is set to be one of Australia’s fastest-growing property hotspots. Looking Ahead: While national house prices are forecasted to rise by 5.6%, capital cities might see a more modest increase of 2.7%. With government initiatives boosting supply and demand remaining strong, 2025 is set to be a year of opportunity for buyers, investors, and industry players. At ECF, we’re honoured to play a part in bringing stakeholders together to facilitate conversations and drive better outcomes. Whether it’s connecting key players, supporting policy innovation, or fostering community-driven projects, we’re here to make great places happen. Here’s to a fantastic 2025! 🚀 Property Council of Australia | Urban Taskforce Australia | UDIA NSW | Kathy Jones | Tracey Arthur | Sara Wilson | Oliver Deed | Vanessa Till #Planning #Property #Infastructure #Policy

Congratulations to LandsecU+I and TOWN. for receiving a commendation at the TET (ThorntonEducationTrust)’s Inspire Future Generations Awards for their work on the Hartree project in North East Cambridge🌟🏅! The commendation was for Hartree’s Child-Friendly Design Strategy, which adopts a site-wide approach that enables children’s independence, mobility, access to play, and opportunities for social interaction. ECF have supported the project team in engaging deeply and meaningfully with children and young people across Cambridge to develop and inform the strategy, which will ensure that Hartree is a safe and inclusive place that caters to the needs of children and young people. The IFG Awards champion outstanding initiatives, organisations, and individuals who are bridging the gap between the built environment and young people. We would like to thank TET for hosting such an inspiring awards ceremony, and to congratulate some of the other winners and nominees, including A Place in Childhood Greater Cambridge Shared Planning Service Digital Urban Make Space for Girls Enfield Council's Journeys and Places Team, and many others🎉.
