Following the release of the Welsh Government’s draft CCS Policy Position Statement, we recently held a Welsh-focussed Carbon Capture & Storage roundtable in partnership with Pinsent Masons. With industry experts, including representatives from the Welsh Government in attendance, we explored key areas including the practical implications of the policy for CCS development in Wales alongside interactions with wider policy updates on hydrogen, decarbonisation and the UK Government’s stance. Next week we’ll be continuing conversations on carbon capture at the UK CCUS and Hydrogen Decarbonisation Summit at The Royal Armouries Leeds. Come and see us at stand F2 or get in touch with Jadine Berry to arrange a meeting. #NetZeroInfrastructure #Hydrogen Owen Francis | Nick M. | Matt Fox | Chameleon Events LTD

The UK government has confirmed its intention to implement EOR in England as part of wider planning and EIA reform. Andy Ricketts revisits what's changing and what needs to happen prior to implementation: https://lnkd.in/e8CECxgH Environmental Outcome Reports (EOR) will replace Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in England, with decisions based on nationally and locally set environmental objectives. Yet, key questions remain - from legal uncertainty to coordination with other UK nations, and clarity on implementation for developers. Andy's article breaks down the implications and what to watch for. A roadmap is expected in the coming months. Reach out to Andy for expert advice, or to discuss the topic further. #EIA #EOR #PlanningReform

Turley reposted this
Was great to spend more time with clients and other experts earlier this week on the topic of ‘Love it or level it’. We again co-hosted with Town Legal LLP at our Birmingham office and our guests included developers, funders, architects, engineers, and senior officers from the City Council. It became clear that outside of London, major investment projects in Birmingham have probably received the most exposure, and in some cases the most controversy, relating to the various and complex issues of demolition, viability, embodied carbon, whole life carbon assessments, and the relative merits of transformative brownfield regeneration. The City Council’s emerging policies on the issues of climate change, and how these will influence the overall balancing of impacts vs benefits for major planning applications, will continue to be an interesting and evolving area to watch over the coming years. Our experience in the city on these types of projects is already widespread, including where repurposing has been the right option for our clients. In the context of the climate emergency, which undoubtedly affects us all, and having regard to the key outcomes of the M&S decision before Christmas, we are preparing ourselves for many more of these projects to come- including the various areas of specialist advice they will need in partnership with others. #loveitorlevelit
