The Eden Planning & Development Ltd team are regularly asked how Local Authorities are performing. If you have 5 minutes, have a play with this matrix. My top observations: - 161,000 minor and 10,000 major applications in England. - 63% of minors determined within the statutory time period, but only 19% of majors – too many minors are absorbing officer capacity. - Limited uptake/use of PPA's (appears to be a north-south divide there). Lots of useful information to support the drive for the Planning Reforms. #planning

The Inspectors have published their report into the Wirral Local Plan. The plan is found sound subject to Main Modifications. A good planning news story in from Stockport 📣 Stockport Planning and Highways Committee has resolved to support their officer’s recommendation to grant planning permission for 76 homes (66 affordable), on a site within the Green Belt. The Committee’s decision was guided by Paragraph 11 of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), which highlights the presumption in favour of sustainable development in the context of a five-year housing land supply shortfall (Stockport has only delivered 54% of its housing requirement over the last three years). Members determined that the proposal’s benefits significantly and demonstrably outweigh any adverse impacts, ensuring compliance with national and local planning policy. The proposal provides an opportunity to remediate and enhance the site’s environmental quality while contributing significantly to Stockport’s affordable housing needs. The scheme also delivers: 🏠 High-quality, accessible design with measures to promote community well-being and safety. 🌱 Net biodiversity gains, safeguarding protected species and improving the local environment. 🛝 S106 contributions for education, children’s play, and recreation facilities. 🚌 Sustainable travel improvements and highways upgrades to ensure safety and accessibility. 🌿 The scheme was amended to retain key features and a green outlook to Wilmslow Road in direct response to comments received from the community.
