We are a community engagement agency focused on improving diversity & inclusion in health research and clinical trials.
About us
We are a community engagement agency focused on improving diversity in health research and clinical trials. We connect community organisations with the health research sector and foster relationships built on trust, proper engagement, and fair reimbursement. Why We Exist There are considerable and persistent health inequalities experienced by the ethnic minority population in the UK Health research and clinical trials do not fairly represent these populations, meaning health services and treatments may be less effective. Community organisations do amazing work engaging people in health research, but their methods of communication and engagement are not used widely. If they were, this could significantly improve diversity in health research and clinical trials.

Did you know that ethnic minority heart failure patients are 36% more likely to die than white patients? The lack of diversity within health research hugely impacts and biases how it is conducted, often leading to worse health outcomes down the line. In June, Egality Health spoke with Consilium to explain why diversity is critical within the clinical and health services research sector, and the importance of engaging with minority communities and addressing health inequalities. Watch the full seminar here: https://lnkd.in/dtMaf-cF If you enjoyed this talk, why not check out the Consilium Scientific Library? We have curated a selection of resources on topics including public health; racism, bias and discrimination; and healthcare policy and reform. 📖 Find books here: https://lnkd.in/dHTEHmHg 📽 Find films/podcasts here: https://lnkd.in/dY6fzWCB

Stigma can make managing type 1 diabetes more challenging. It can lead to isolation, negatively impact mental health, and affect how individuals manage their diabetes. We are supporting a study to explore the impact of stigma on individuals with type 1 diabetes in the UK. By sharing your experiences in our #T1D stigma study, you can help us understand its impact and work towards reducing it. 📝 To take part, email us at t1dstigmastudy@ic.ac.uk #T1Dstigma #DiabetesAwareness #HealthResearch Caribbean & African Health Network (CAHN), Kirit Mistry, Imperial College London

The UK has one of the lowest breastfeeding rates globally, with many mothers stopping by week six due to a lack of support. According to Claire Tchaikowski, CEO of the Bristol-based social enterprise Human Milk, more needs to be done to help new mothers succeed in breastfeeding. Despite 80% of UK mothers starting with the intention to breastfeed exclusively, less than half continue beyond six weeks. More resources and targeted support is essential, particularly during the postnatal period when new mothers need it most. #BreastfeedingSupport #MaternalHealth #Healthcare Read more here: https://lnkd.in/g6icbDGx

According to the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board, cancer has now become the leading cause of death among women in North East England, surpassing cardiovascular disease. This statistic highlights the critical need for improved early detection and better access to cervical screenings. With rates varying dramatically across the region, healthcare leaders emphasise the importance of ensuring that services are accessible and acceptable to all communities. Addressing these disparities is crucial to improving women's health outcomes and reducing the years spent in ill health. #CancerAwareness #PublicHealth Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gs5kb_Tf
