Jersey has launched a three-year strategy to support neurodivergent individuals, aiming to create a neuro-inclusive island. This initiative covers a range of conditions including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and Tourette’s syndrome. The Government of Jersey, in partnership with Autism Jersey, is actively seeking feedback from neurodivergent individuals, their families, and advocates through an online survey and interactive workshops. #Neurodiversity #Inclusion #CommunityEngagement Find more information and link to the survey here: https://lnkd.in/ezcEWrWg 

Did you know that ethnic minority heart failure patients are 36% more likely to die than white patients? The lack of diversity within health research hugely impacts and biases how it is conducted, often leading to worse health outcomes down the line. Dr. Juhee Pahuja’s journey from blood cancer diagnosis to remission is inspiring. Now Dr. Pahuja is using her experience to educate and connect with her community. The Virtual Dementia Tour Bus in Sheffield is offering a unique and immersive experience that simulates the sensory challenges faced by those living with dementia. Participants will wear goggles, headphones, and spiky insoles to replicate distorted vision, loud noises, and sensory overload.  This exercise aims to foster empathy and deeper understanding, making communities more informed and dementia-friendly. The UK has one of the lowest breastfeeding rates globally, with many mothers stopping by week six due to a lack of support. According to Claire Tchaikowski, CEO of the Bristol-based social enterprise Human Milk, more needs to be done to help new mothers succeed in breastfeeding.  Despite 80% of UK mothers starting with the intention to breastfeed exclusively, less than half continue beyond six weeks. According to the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board, cancer has now become the leading cause of death among women in North East England, surpassing cardiovascular disease. This statistic highlights the critical need for improved early detection and better access to cervical screenings.   With rates varying dramatically across the region, healthcare leaders emphasise the importance of ensuring that services are accessible and acceptable to all communities.
