The world's original league football competition

About us

Formed in 1888, the EFL is the world's original league football competition. We provide a national membership organisation for Clubs and also manage three main competitions - the Sky Bet EFL, the Carabao Cup and the Papa John’s Trophy - while administering reserve team and youth football for our member Clubs. We encourage all parts of the community to enjoy league football through community inclusion programmes and generate the commercial revenue that sustains and fuels football's growth.

  • “Walking Football is giving him the confidence he needs. He’s really opening up.” - Amy, part of Glyn’s care team. A little over a year ago, Glyn was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, leading to a loss of confidence and causing him to withdraw from social interactions. However, one activity that has had a strong impact on Glyn’s life is the weekly Walking Football sessions organised by Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, designed specifically for people with long-term health conditions. As a lifelong Blackburn Rovers supporter, Glyn’s carers recognised that these sessions would be a perfect fit for him. Initially, Glyn was hesitant to participate and spent most of the time watching from the sidelines. This proved to be a great way for him to introduce himself to the group and encouraged him to take that first step onto the pitch. These sessions, tailored for individuals with long-term health conditions, have been transformative for Glyn. Not only have they boosted his confidence and improved his stamina, but they’ve also helped him forge meaningful connections. Despite experiencing memory loss, Glyn now remembers the names of his teammates! Discover how Blackburn Rovers Community Trust and We Are Undefeatable are making a difference by helping people like Glyn stay active and engaged through the link below.   #EFL | EFL in the Community
