Back in the US for the second time in 3 weeks - now here for Meet Devon South West England Limited on the MeetEngland trade mission which this time includes #SMUinternational hosted by Northstar Meetings Group in NYC Our week commenced with a meeting with our partner colleagues at VisitBritain at their offices within the #BritishConsulate for a detailed update on the growth plans for business visits and events moving forward Collaborative working with MeetEngland is vital to us as a small CVB; which enables us to get out to market and get in front of key #meetingplanners to showcase our venues and destination to attract leading business events from the North American market. Working together, gives us the platform to build a strong network to grow those ever important relationships and subsequent growth for our participating partners throughout the year. Another great Torbay Business Forum event with 100 people hearing all about the Tourism market from carolyn custerson, CEO English Riviera BID Company Ltd. Exciting plans and fantastic marketing campaigns have been developed to help boost business for the English Riviera in the coming season. The new TV adverts - which will be screened in the Midlands and on ITVX - really show the Bay in all its glory. Thanks also to our Community Slot speaker, Linda Baker President of the Rotary Club of Torbay Sunrise who highlighted all the fundraising initiatives they do across the Bay. Perfect breakfast as always from the team at the Riviera International Centre (thanks Laura Kozaczynski and the team), and huge thank you to Gold sponsors, Bigwave Marketing (Simon Beer) and Silver, Mercure Hotels Paignton (Jason Parry) without whom we couldn’t operate. 📣 English Riviera to host international Stand Up Paddling World Cup We're delighted to share that Paddle UK has been awarded a Stand Up Paddling World Cup event. This is the first time an ICF Stand Up Paddling (SUP) event of this scale has been held in the UK. Torbay is already a go-to spot for SUP, and this event will bring an unforgettable festival of paddling to the coastline. The five-day event is expected to attract around 200 of the world’s best athletes, as well as provide an opportunity for everyone to get on the water and experience the best of the English Riviera for themselves. 🗓️ The event will be held from 24 to 28 June 2026.
