Members of our board and management team visited our Larks Green solar project ahead of the launch of the first solar and battery storage co-located facility to connect to the National Grid network. The 50MW solar project near Itchington in Gloucestershire was developed alongside our UK partner, Enso Energy. The project went live in April 2023, making it the first solar PV project in the UK to feed electricity directly into the National Grid’s high-voltage transmission network. And we have now taken delivery of the SolBanks BESS modules, with installation of these now at an advanced stage, and expected to be operational in the Autumn of 2024. The introduction of a co-located solar and battery storage project is important for allowing power to be delivered to the Grid when it is needed, coupling demand and generation. The development of these projects will help to reduce the cost of energy for households, while also reducing the UK’s reliance on fossil fuels.

We had a great day on Tuesday bringing the whole team together to talk about the exciting future for Enso Energy. A lot of focus on how we work together as a team and we considered our core values that drive and unite us. We were joined by some colleagues from our partner organisation Cero Generation who shared their recent experiences about project financing and transaction processes. We spent a rather enjoyable afternoon learning some essential team working skills. Given the increasing complexity and fast pace of the renewables sector, our ability to work as a team across all our professions - grid, land & planning - is now more important than ever. #renewables #ensoenergy #teamwork

Last week the Enso team gathered away from our desks, for a day of discussion, idea sharing and team building. The aim was to give an opportunity to highlight hurdles and challenges in our work, and to put our heads together to improve our practices and processes to help us deliver even more effectively. We have a fantastic portfolio of connections, and it was great to see the enthusiasm and commitment from the team to challenge ourselves to be continually improving how we deliver our projects.
