On Thursday the 21st of November I will be in #Brechin at Brechin High School delivering the #StepUpwith Enterprise programme in partnership with the school and the great people of DYW Tay Cities (Developing the Young Workforce) As you may have seen from previous posts I have recently been around a few Tay Cities schools with more to come however this one in Brechin in November is during Global Entrepreneurship Week #GEW2024 #GEWUK Why not come along? We are expecting around 150 young people who will start a business, learn about jobs and trade, who knows they may even turn their start up loan into profit. Great fun planned as we work together encouraging young people through #entrepreneurship DM me or Vicky Cosgrove for more details, you would be very welcome.

I'm lucky..I have never had a penny from Scottish Government for any of my #entrepreneur work. not a penny. and I've worked with over 1 million young people in 32 local authorities in hundreds of schools. I've been to meetings where people talk about encouraging entrepreneurship and I've walked out .... I've been to events where we pretend we are talking scale up, tech, digital, we shake hands with politicians, we smile at them and I've left after listening to "officials" who are talking nonsense. Doing nothing but talking good. We as a country have no idea re Entrepreneurship..... none, zero, zilch. I'm sorry to say that and I don't mean anything negative to the many who are trying, pushing and ambitious because I know you and I talk to you most days. However Isn't that amazing in a country full of entrepreneurial minds. Repeat ---- We as a country have no idea re Entrepreneurship..... none, zero, zilch. I'm talking Scotland here, our beautiful country with problems galore. and yet we pretend we are the greatest country in the world...words full of political nonsense. I hear today that funding for Young Enterprise Scotland is being cut, another cut in the "mini me" thinking of we can't afford it regime of Scotland. There has been many educational cuts over the last while. Ach well, let's stay third rate. or join me as I continue to spread the word that Scotland.... we are enterprising to our core and more, much more than these political robots who talk well but deliver zero. Swinney, Forbes, Sarwar hold your heads in shame and please don't blame austerity, Westminster or Russia. Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurs will rise but you are just a bunch of politicians with zero vision. Young people and our country deserve so much better. entrepreneur me education

22 years ago Matt Stewart set up the organisation entrepreneurme, he had been self employed since he was 16 and had reaped the benefits of enterprise, this was Matt's way of giving back, so far through entrepreneur me with the support of many we have worked with over 1 million young people. Have a read of Matt's post below and get in touch should you be interested in our work encouraging entrepreneurship for social change. https://lnkd.in/eaa7e7At

At 16 years of age I was unqualified and unemployed and had a idea.... I would sell books door to door. I would get up early and take the bus to various towns and cities and walk around business premises and houses knocking on doors, selling and talking to anyone who would listen. I had a case full of books with titles like. *Success through a Positive Mental Attititude. *You Can if you Think you Can. *The Power of Positive Thinking. *Think and Grow Rich. I loved it For anyone who would talk to me, I really gave them the full story of why #attitudematters and how inside all of us there is unlimited potential. I would sell everything before heading home with some nights it being 9 or 10pm and I'd done what I set out to do. Then at 17 I attended a seminar by Norman VP and everything changed for me, I went from an unqualified kid to an adult on a mission. And I've not stopped. Books by Jim Rohn, Dale Carnegie, Zig Ziglar, Napoleon Hill, W Clement Stone and Norman Vincent Peale inspired me. 40+ years on and I'm still selling the idea that inside all of us there is greatness, all we have to do is study and apply the principles of positivity, possibility and our natural potential. Greatness is within us all. Have a look at the picture below from 2004 and me talking to a group of young people along with a quote from Andrew Carnegie. “There is a power under your control that is greater than poverty, greater than the lack of education, greater than all your fears. It is the power to take possession of your own mind and direct it to whatever ends you may desire.” Andrew Carnegie Happy days indeed.

An interesting week Firstly we hear that we can't afford to feed our young people in schools and that political promises from the past aren't now possible because. We are skint Then we hear that the refinery at #Grangemouth is to close with the loss of 400 jobs bringing wider social and economic problems. We are closed for business. Then we hear a mysterious "white night" buyer could purchase the Grangemouth refinery. We will see. My own little bit of the world and trying to #makeadifference has been busy. I attended schools in #Dumfries, #Dunfermline, #Dundee and #Stirling. I presented my ideas re #CanDoAttitudes and #entrepreneurship to over 1000 young people. For me helping young people develop skills, helping young people believe in themselves and to encourage them to think big is important. We have much to do and I'm not shy to say that #entrepreneurship and creating an #entrepreneurial Can Do culture and #wealthcreation is crucial to our future. I'm in Grangemouth on Tuesday, in a school, DM me what do you think I should tell young people? I'm interested in your thoughts and will add them to my message to the kids. My words always 👇 "You are valuable, you can do it, you can create change, and you definitely have the ability to do so"

Calling all my Tayside connections. On Thursday the 12th September I will be in Baldragon Academy in Dundee to deliver the entrepreneurme Step Up with Enterprise programme on behalf of DYW Tay Cities (Developing the Young Workforce) 180 S1 pupils and 30 S5 young leaders will be with me for the full day as they become #entrepreneurs and start companies, trade and overcome many hurdles whilst learning work skills, job roles and of course teamwork. The young people will start with £25 and who knows how much profit (or loss) they will make, it will be challenging. Business partners are welcome to attend/participate by becoming buyers, bankers, supply store staff and even representatives collecting business taxation. I guarantee lots of fun, full support and the opportunity to see enterprise education in action. Kindness is a Superpower Today marks my final visit to one of the schools who have participated in the #DoGood Entrepreneurship programme. Over the course of 2024 so far 51 schools have worked closely with entrepreneurme with around 11,000 young people taking part in our 8 week programme. As you may know from previous posts the young people working with me learn about #entrepreneurship, start a company, trade, get a loan, learn about investing, work as a team, learn about jobs/work skills/ positive mindsets as well as overcoming many hurdles whilst having fun. This year I have through the The Child Prosperity Partnership issued £8303 of loans to the young business people who have worked like blazes to turn that amount into £40515 meaning that overall #Dogood entrepreneurship has contributed in cash terms £32212 to local communities. The kids decide who they want to help, they turn on their enterprising brains and learn to recognise that success is good and it means more than "self" It means helping others. Kindness really is a superpower. #enterprise #entrepreneurship #kindness #success My plan for 2024 is for even more schools to participate, expansion into England with the fabulous Lisa Avery perhaps you would want to be involved. Please DM for a chat Matt Watch us grow #WeareGoGivers
