I'm sure you will agree with me that teaching kids financial literacy is important both for their future financial well-being and to encourage prosperity. Here are some financial words that we teach to kids via our action packed enterprise programmes. Entrepreneur: Introducing the concept of someone who starts their own business to earn money. Saving: Learning to set aside a portion of their money for future needs or wants. Spending: Understanding how to use money to buy things they need or want. Budget: Introducing the concept of a budget, which is a plan for how to spend and save money. Income: Teaching them that money can come from many sources. Expenses: Explaining that money is used to pay for things. Savings Account: Introducing the idea of a bank account where they can save money and earn interest. Interest: Explaining that when you save money in a bank, the bank pays you a little extra money called interest. Debt: Teaching them that sometimes people borrow money and have to pay it back, often with interest. Investing: Introducing the idea that people can use their money to buy things like stocks or bonds that have the potential to grow in value over time. Credit Card: Explaining that a credit card is a way to borrow money to make purchases, but it needs to be paid back. Income Tax: Introducing the concept that some of the money people earn is paid to the government as taxes. Charity: Teaching them about giving back and donating money to help others . Earning: Discussing the idea that money is earned through work and other activities. Inflation: Simplifying the idea that prices can go up over time, so their money may not buy as much in the future. Emergency Fund: Explaining that it's a good idea to have some money set aside for unexpected expenses. Compound Interest: the idea that money can grow over time through CI. Credit Score: teaching kids that their financial behaviour can impact their credit score, which can affect their ability to borrow money in the future. Investment Risk: Investments can go up and down in value, and it's important to understand and manage this risk. Financial Goal: Encouraging young people to set financial goals. These financial words and concepts can serve as a foundation for teaching kids about money and helps them develop good financial habits from a young age. Who takes part in our #entrepreneurship education programmes? Well let me tell you based on yesterday's activity ..... 270 S1 pupils + 35 S6 pupils + 5 teachers + 11 business partners, including + 4 apprentices + 11 parent participants easy answer is #everyoneforenterprise The more people who get involved the better. It's fun learning and all have a positive experience helping young people succeed. Next week = Dunfermline, Inverness and Perth

Kindness is a Superpower Today marks my final visit to one of the schools who have participated in the #DoGood Entrepreneurship programme. Over the course of 2024 so far 51 schools have worked closely with entrepreneurme with around 11,000 young people taking part in our 8 week programme. As you may know from previous posts the young people working with me learn about #entrepreneurship, start a company, trade, get a loan, learn about investing, work as a team, learn about jobs/work skills/ positive mindsets as well as overcoming many hurdles whilst having fun. This year I have through the The Child Prosperity Partnership issued £8303 of loans to the young business people who have worked like blazes to turn that amount into £40515 meaning that overall #Dogood entrepreneurship has contributed in cash terms £32212 to local communities. The kids decide who they want to help, they turn on their enterprising brains and learn to recognise that success is good and it means more than "self" It means helping others. I was with a group of kids today who applied for a business loan and traded, they made £320 from only £26 and they now plan to give their profit away to a local community group that is facing financial challenge. Here is what the teacher said that the kids got most from our 8 week partnership. The young people's mental health and sense of wellbeing soared as they became #gogivers. #dogood entrepreneurme 💛💛💛💛💛
